It is a marketing strategy. And a good business strategy to keep people coming in. Almost everyone (except you apparently) knows that actual spec updates come towards the end of the year for the 14.

It is highly unlikely they would just upgrade you. But there is a 30 day return so you could send it back and order something different. May not get the discount but if you go to the store and explain it, sometimes they will help you out. For instance I bought my kid a laptop a few days after the expiration of a back to school promo and they gave it to me anyway! 

As Apple (to my knowledge) has not announced a release date, there is no delay in delivery. Only a delay in delivery to an analysts speculation. It is what makes sites like this potentially damage Apple and their investors financially. The Apple Insider announces a purely speculative release timeframe. Stocks go up. Company does not deliver on the rumor. Some investors get burnt. If they don’t release it and the stock price drops they should sue Kuo (or whatever his name it).Apple should sue him anyway much like they did thinksecret!
