  • Apple's website hints 'OS X' to be rebranded as 'MacOS'

My vote is for macOS with the lowercase m, not uppercase. Doing so will indicate that it is not the same as the pre-OS X  Mac OS and will also align the verbiage with iOS, watchOS and tvOS.

  • White House won't publicly back legislation allowing judges to order decryption - report

Thank you, White House. At least, we still have people in the White House with brain. Can't be sure what happens if Trump or any GOP becomes the next president. Well, they will probably fck us over on encryptions.
Just because the White House won't PUBLICLY support the bill, doesn't mean the White House isn't giving it PRIVATE support (usually through lackeys, like Feinstein) nor does it mean Pres Obama won't VETO the measure when it gets to his desk. All depends whether the firestorm of criticism has died down by then.

  • Cellebrite again rumored to have accessed San Bernardino iPhone 5c for FBI

If Cellebrite has done business with the FBI for the past seven years, and since the FBI obviously trusts them to assist with forensics work, why didn't the FBI request assistance from Cellebrite in this instance? Hmmmmmm?

  • DOJ confirms successful iPhone data extraction, withdraws encryption case against Apple [u]

Part of me thinks this is BS and they never got into the iPhone and withdrew because of all the bad press they were getting.
I suspect you could be right. From the FBI's perspective better to leave the issue unresolved than to go to court and have it resolved in a way the FBI didn't like. If Apple won it would reduce the FBI's options not just with Apple but also with other 'less principled' manufacturers.

On the other hand, the withdrawal also creates the impression Apple's encryption might have been broken. Apple will need to at least be seen to upgrade encryption in iOS9.4 that could deal with the exploit.

The gripping hand is the encryption war goes on forever.
Apple's encryption was NOT broken! The PASSCODE LOCK was bypassed. Jeez! Get it right! The FBI still has to de-crypt the data, so they say! But now that they know the passcode (I would hope, since they bypassed the lock) they should have an easier time doing so, once they find the hardware key. Hardware key plus passcode are the two factors needed to break the encryption.

  • Researchers, Apple collaborate to fix iMessage security hole with today's release of iOS 9.3

While fixing this bug, Apple can also add able to create/save multiple draft text/message before send option in iMessage App. Missing since it’s inception against android stock message app. iPhone users say create multiple draft using Notes App and cut/paste into imessage when ready to send your text. I say why ? why not build into imessage/text app like android stock text app. Even every email app on every platform does it when you leave draft, it automatically saves.
I can't imagine a common use case that this feature would enable.  Already it saves multiple drafts - 1 per user.  Type it up now - and it will stay in the send buffer until you hit the send button.  If I want to create one for a user and then NOT send it immediately - but send that user other messages - I could temporarily copy the draft to the clipboard or to a note - and then paste it back in when I'm ready - but so far in 7 years, I've never had that need, nor have I heard anybody complain that they can't save a draft in iMessage.  For the number of people that might be able to use this feature - Notes is the best option.  Adding draft managent to the messages app would complicate and confuse more people than it would help.  I'm sure there's a messaging app in the App Store that would meet your needs.
Plus I can imagine the security overhead for keeping a draft of an iMessage in memory.
