2) wiping my startup disk and doing a clean install
3) using 1.01 of OpenCore which was available by the time I did the 2nd attempt
in any case, thanks for the heads up on the new release. My MacBook is not my primary machine at the moment which is why I went ahead with the experiment. Going to wait a bit before attempting with my iMac

Couple updates -- first off, my MacBook was a 2015, not a 2016. And I have it up and running. I did a clean install using the Mr. Macintosh detailed walkthrough on YouTube -- this was an excellent walkthrough. Highly recommend.gadgetfreak-apple said:
