  • iPhone X burst mode, slo-mo featured in new Apple photography tutorials

I often wonder if ALL of these “shot on an iphone” commercials are actually entirely shot on an iphone. It seems most of it is shot on professional cameras with one or two shots from an iphone, but making people think the whole thing was actually shot on an iphone.
It may be you find it hard to believe that you can actually do it on an iPhone.  Stop wondering and believe.
On the contrary, i am a travel photographer who uses an iphone all the time. I totally believe in it’s capabilities as a camera. My question was about the iphone commercials. They seem very slick. Almost too slick. And i wonder if much of them were shot on high end digital cameras, with some iphone footage thrown in.
Apple would face major fines and penalties for false advertising (not to mention tarnishing their biggest asset - brand value). Apple has much more to lose if any accusations of false claims or images could not be disproven by them so why would they take the chance? That is why we see so many small print disclaimers and disclosure under every commercial now.

  • Apple's Siri could decline phone calls with context-sensitive text responses in the future...

You really want a way for people to know you're unavailable to take a call before they dial, rather than letting them try first only to get fobbed off by a robot.
So you want telemarketers to know when you're available and when you're not? What we really need is simply a way to reliably identity the party on the other end before we even know they are contacting us. Then let our VIP contact list take it from there.

This is a story floated by Apple anyway for general feedback and discussion - a response to Google's Duplex.

  • Apple's work on circular screens could lead to round-face Apple Watch

... this is great news to me... Is the archetype for watches (and pure form) well established and does the chicklet (while functional) smack of computer geek no matter how much gold someone paid for... ?
Smartwatches do not have to comply with wrist watch archetypes any more than apps or software design have to comply with skeuomorphism. If anything, the new archetype of digital wearables have been defined as square or rectangular by Apple. I still like the look of round faces too, but round watches will continue to appear increasingly irrelevant and antiquated as we move forward.

  • Apple paying BuzzFeed to release show first on Apple News

Buzzfeed?? Not sure too many will be coming to Apple News specifically to read that crap, no idea why Apple would want to associate itself with the lowest form of news..? At least team up with a real news outlet.
The bar has been has lowered so much, many people would trust Buzzfeed over Facebook.

  • Justice Department investigating AT&T and Verizon for blocking eSIM adoption, Apple report...

    Apple are being hypocrits.

Yes, eSIM needs to succeed and within the context of that they are right to file a complaint.

    However...

    - Can I switch to another App Store on iOS?
    - Can I circumvent the 30% Apple tax when selling content on Apple’s App Store?
    - Can I use Siri to control Google Maps or Spotify?
    - Can I use CarPlay to run Google Maps?
    - Am I able to backup iCloud to another destination using an open API they provide?
    - Can Dropbox and Google Drive hook in the operating system the way iCloud does?

The answer to all questions: NO.

If there’s one company who wants to regain control over their ecosystem it’s Apple. Ten years ago it was unacceptable when Microsoft pushed Internet Explorer, and they were forced to change that. Apple is much worse in that regard and yet the crickets are chirping.

Telco companies colluding is a bad thing for sure, but Apple has a monopoly so they are even worse: they don’t have to collude at all to reach the same goal.

Disclaimer: I’m an Apple user and love their hardware and their OS. So no, I’m not running to Android. Being a fan of a brand doesn’t mean I agree with everything that brand does.
Apple may be hypocritical but they are not a monopoly by any definition. You may not want to leave Apple but you can at anytime with no penalty, therefore they are not a monopoly just based on that alone.
