  • Apple confirms customers unable to pick up Apple Store repairs until outlets reopen

Bad timing for some folks, but there’s just no way they can do anything about it.
“No way”? They have the contact details of the device owners. They could mail it back to them.

A two day window was nowhere near sufficient for many people. Those people are now quite possibly trapped at home without a device to communicate with others and work from home. Under the circumstances that is inexcusable.

Apple has not yet exhausted every possible avenue to reunite people with devices they need over the coming weeks and months.

They are one of the most inventive companies on the planet. If their response is “we tried for two whole days”, then I suggest they try harder.

  • Using Apple CarPlay impairs driver reaction more than alcohol, study shows

No drivers should be interacting with the touch screen of their car whilst the vehicle is in motion, especially to choose music.

    Use voice, or pull over.

  • Apple announces WWDC 2020 'online experience' taking place in June

Credit due to Apple: they’ve found a way to turn a negative situation into a positive one. Nowhere is the word ‘cancelled’ mentioned; instead they’ve taken the opportunity to rethink the WWDC format. Obviously we need to await the details to see exactly what it’ll look like, but it’s a safe bet that this won’t just be a series of videos posted on the web.

I expect we’ll see a return to the in-person event for future WWDCs, but hopefully they’ll take what they’re creating for 2020 and extend that to future conferences too so more people can take part remotely.

  • Apple greatly reduced autonomous vehicle testing in 2019, fleet of 23 cars drove only 7,50...

At the time, Apple's system was the worst-performing test platform in California.”.

Based on what evidence? Human intervention counts as a disengagement. It’s entirely possible that Apple’s testers are directed to intervene more often out of an abundance of caution. I doubt they want to be all over the news for being involved in a collision, unlike some of the other folks.

  • Apple TV+ 'Shantaram' production halts over a lack of scripts [u]

Making shows ain’t exactly like consumer products engineering!
This happens all the time. Apple news sites are becoming a bit like The Hollywood Reporter but specifically for Apple TV+ stories, lacking the context of the wider film and tv industry. Those who read Apple news sites but not Hollywood news sites might think this sort of thing is unusual or a sign that Apple is struggling, but it’s par for the course in this industry.
