  • Apple axes Back to My Mac in macOS Mojave

VPN, DynamicDNS, and Screen Sharing can be used to access your Mac at home.

If you are advanced enough that you need access to more than one computer at home (i.e. to the entire home network), you can set up a VPN server at home. Basically any router comes with a VPN server nowadays. Once you have established a VPN tunnel to your router, you are able to communicate remotely with any IP host on your home network.

If you just need access to files stored on one Mac, use iCloud Drive or any other cloud file storage service.

Back to My Mac was a poor-man’s VPN solution before real VPN became available on consumer-grade routers. This was also mostly for homes with one computer. At one point, a manual crank as a backup system for an electric starter became an outdated offering and got removed as an option from every modern car. Did it prevent someone from
buying a new car I’m the past 40 years?

  • Samsung goes after Apple and iPhone X again with two more 'Ingenious' ads

These apps make fun of Apple people, not of iPhones. The Android fans look like the "salt of the earth" no-nonsense working class people who know the value of the money. The Apple lovers come across like mindless followers of a cult. The Samsung message is directed at the lower class. Be smart and buy a Samsung unless you want to look like these Apple fruitcakes.

This is a battle for the market share - pure and simple. Samsung wants to prevent low earners from switching to Apple. Samsung is not going for high earners, knowing full well that the efficacy of their commercials with that audience is extremely low. There's a reason both Android fans are minorities. It's actually sort of racist of Samsung to do this.

  • While Wall Street quacked about killing iPhone X, Apple quietly bought back $43.5B in its ...

"vapidly ignorant noise generated by analysts and financial news sites who bizarrely wondered aloud for months"

Is this writing style not vanity beyond any
    measure?

  • Tested: Thermal conditions in the 2018 i9 MacBook Pro dramatically hampering performance

I have a solution for Apple. Resurrect the 2015 design of 15" MacBook Pro and bring back the missing ports. The body has more room in it, so use the extra room to dissipate the heat better.

  • Apple in talks to open first Israeli store in country's tallest building, report says

If I were to voice my opinions on, or criticize America's gun control policy, would that be considered anti-American? Israeli's policies are in fact quite objectional. Anti-semite ?
No political comments, please.  That includes antisemitic jabs or rants, of which I just deleted one (somebody’s first post ever and it had to be that).
This is a tech blog. Do you find it objectionable that an Apple store be opened in Tel Aviv?

Do you have a Pavlov reflex triggered in your brain to say something nasty about Israel every time the word Israel is mentioned? If so, suppress it.
