  • Review: Apple's 13" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar

Why wasn't anything mentioned about the MacBook Pro not coming with extension cord? All previous MacBooks came with one and this is the first time Apple is making you buy such a simple part? It should come free like it always has.
Let me get it straight. You are not concerned about how overpriced the dual-core MacBook Pros are, but you are pissed about having to buy an extension cord?

Summary of pros and cons would be much useful. "The reversible USB-C ports also feature integrated support for Thunderbolt 3". Not really it is the other way round: The reversible Thunderbolt 3 ports also feature integrated support for USB-C. Get the facts! TO ADMINS: carriage returns are deleted here when using Safari on Mac. I have reported that many times in the past to no avail. No problem on other sites.
Actually, this is a USB-C port with Thunderbolt 3, not the other way around.

  • Apple axes Wi-Fi router division, apparently signaling the end of AirPort

I wonder if the Time Capsule will be refreshed without a routing/AP capability in the future.

This particular move to discontinue the Wi-Fi routers I do not particularly disagree with. There are plenty of other players in the market that release decent consumer Wi-Fi routers. Mesh routers are becoming popular, so Apple would either have had to make a serious development effort to stay relevant or to discontinue the line altogether.

Obviously, under the bean-counter-in-chief, anything that doesn't rake in cash gets nixed.

I am returning my MBP 15 w/TB, due to constant crashes, this touchpad issue, and a nagging problem with the internet connection.. that really was the last straw. I work remote, and spend most of my time on Google Hangouts. Anytime I would open a new Safari (or Chrome) window and type into the search bar the traffic from the auto search bar would cause the connection to drop. Usually it was just an interrupt in audio and video but a couple times it resulted in the loss of connection. My late 2014 MBP never exhibited this problem.
I saw a blogger had recorded a video of the 15" MB Pro and ripped it to shreds over the internet connection dropping when using Safari. When he plugged something into one of the ports, it also dropped the connection. POS
I think the reason may be that the MacBook thinks that the device plugged in to one of its ports is a network card and tries to route network traffic via that device. Someone suggested to that dude to check network preferences, but the dude was sitting so high up on his Apple bashing horse that he didn't even understand what was suggested to him.

  • Apple confirmed limiting iPhone 7 Qualcomm modem to keep performance on par with Intel chip

I noticed that when I upgraded my Verizon iPhone 7 (which I'm using on AT&T) from 10.0.3 to 10.1, my download speed dropped by almost 50%. I tested my iPhone 7 download speed on ATT right next to my wife's iPhone 6s. I definitely witnessed a dramatic worsening of the download speed after upgrading my iPhone 7 to iOS 10.1, whereas my wife's iPhone 6s, which stayed on iOS 10.0.2, maintained the same download speed. So, I know the issue was not with the cell tower.

I was fortunate to have beeen able to downgrade to 10.0.3 the following day, and after the downgrade, the download speed returned to where it was before I upgraded, which is about 120 Mbps on the iPhone 7.

I wonder if Apple started throttling Qualcom modems in iOS 10.1.
This also raises the possibility that this slowdown is a bug.
I reported this to Apple the same day once I realized that iOS 10.1 reduced my Qualcomm modem iPhone 7 download speeds almost in half, and the downgrade to 10.0.3 restored the full download speed. I requested that an engineer call me back to do further testing (the cell tower is within 100 yards from my house). Apple told me that no one would be calling me back about this. I've tried to google this but found no reference mentioning a similar experience. That was a month ago or so.
