  • Apple faces higher taxes after G7 agree to global tax rate changes

Is it native of me to see this as similar to the App Store policies? Society has built the structure through which Apple is benefiting from; so to play in this sandbox it is going to cost you 15%.

If, in the case of Epic, the judge(s) rule in favour of Epic, could Apple turn around and use that law makers ruling against these lawmakers? I have no clue, just thinking of loud and looking for additions to my thinking. 🤓

  • Apple rumored to invest $3.6B in Kia to produce 100,000 'Apple Cars' per year

I'm ready to buy if it's less than $65k.
My guess is that these vehicles will not be for sale. I think that they will slowly put out fleets of these to major cities as a taxi service. The car will automatically adjust to your presets and, with the use of handoff, you will seamlessly continue whatever it was you were doing prior to getting into the vehicle. I would further guess that the cities these are first released into will be those that first had street view. Perhaps this was part of the reason they had a change of opinion towards providing street view in maps? Regardless, I am skeptical that these will be for purchase.

  • Facebook, Google, other major developers decline to offer native Apple silicon apps at lau...

I don’t understand the merit of having native apps for many of these when they run just as well in a browser, especially the streaming services and the Google apps.
Me too. We’re now saturated with apps. Can’t see any reason why we want a Facebook or Twitter app on Mac. (Unless they offer pro functionality like TweetDeck.)
I’m with Rob53 on this one. While the browser now has the capacity to be everything we want it to be, there is no layer of protection. To me, having an app provides that protection. Now I am in no way a computer scientist, but when I think of cookies and their multiple uses and how a website can limit what I see until I accept their use of cookies, apps become more important to me. It is highly unlikely that any person could possibly know how every website they access uses cookies. But when accessing an app, I at least know that they must follow the protocols put in place by apple and the App Store. I may be a bit naive here, so if anyone can shed more light on my thinking I would be grateful.

  • Two months later: AirPods Pro versus Powerbeats Pro

The Powerbeats Pro are far more comfortable and are not made from the ugly white plastic that screams 2005.
Case is nicer, battery life is better. Sound is fine for mobile. Nobody uses these things for critical listening.
I do not want noise cancellation when out walking.

I guess it depends upon your needs.
I bought the Powerbeats Pro when it didn’t look like the AirPods were getting ANC. I liked them, but really loved being untethered even more. The thing that I didn’t like about them was the case as it was so large that it limited when I’d be wearing them. When the AirPods Pro were released, I sold the Powerbeats to get these and have loved them since. The small case is perfect in the front pocket of your pants. Because they are always on my person, they are getting way more use than the Powerbeats. And the transparency mode is something I use just as often (if not more) than the ANC.

  • How to use Sign In With Apple and manage your log in information

Can anyone shed some light on what happens if you sign in through Apple on a site that you’ve had a long time? Will you essentially be creating a new account or will it connect you with your previous one? Thx.
