  • Elon Musk temporarily halts Twitter deal over user metrics

Revenue in 2021 was $5b (90% from ads) net loss $221m, partly due to a big litigation cost. Revenue, monthly actives and assets look healthy enough to be profitable. $44b is a high price to pay for it though.
Honest question: Does it really cost $5,221,000,000 a year to run a micro blogging site? (The big litigation costs are $809.5 million class action settlement in Sept 2021, which I assume is a one time expenditure – 16.2% of revenue. That qualifies for big.)

“ 50-MP Octa PD Quad Bayer wide camera”

That sure is a lens with a lot of words. I wish I knew what they meant.
Well, I know PD stands for Pumpe Düse, and Octa tells me there are eight of them. Quad, so four cylinders, which means two unit injectors per cylinder. Or maybe it's four per cylinder, two cylinders. Not sure.

Never heard of the Bayer cycle before, though. Also not entirely clear on why you would want direct-injection diesel in a camera.

(I'm joking, in case that wasn't abundantly clear. I, too, would like some kind of description of what all of these terms mean in the context of cameras.)
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Zimmie. One of the funniest riffs I've heard in quite awhile.

  • Two new Macs, 'Apple Watch Series 7' pop up in regulatory filings

Glad to hear there will be a 16" MBP. M1X ASi. Just looked up the current model identifiers and it looks like the other is an updated 13" MBP.

Still waiting for a 30" ASi iMac to choose from before I decide.

  • Apple faces higher taxes after G7 agree to global tax rate changes

Are we going to pay less in taxes now that G7 is collecting more taxes and closed the loopholes?

Also in the end, all companies will just tag on any extra taxes to to the consumer. Taxes are always paid by the buyer!

Agreed - The G7 have agreed to increase taxes (hopefully) to all their people whilst labelling it as taxing the greedy multination companies - a win - win

Great point, mike g. G7 countries get to raise taxes and blame it on someone else (wasn't it President Biden that proposed this tax agreement recently?). Of course it may be interesting to see the "G7 Tax" line item show up on your next tech purchase receipt. Airlines do it (in the US) with a "911 tax." FedEx at one point with a "Fuel Tax", etc.
