This is a point I agree with. Cook was smart to meet with Trump and do what he has to in the interests of Apple. That's what a CEO is supposed to do. 

I don't like Trump. I didn't vote for him and I think he's the worst president in history. But it's counterproductive to demand people like Cook cut off their own nose to spite Trump's face. People who oppose Trump need to be smarter than that. They need to focus on taking steps that actually advance their goals, not steps that are just cathartic or symbolic.

So will we get to do this all again in 90 days or will he just let it drop? Who knows. 

I guess what's pretty clear for Apple, though, is that they need to get Indian production up to a level sufficient to meet US demand. Also, be sure to have a stash of inventory in the US for the next time Trump throws a tariff fit. 

I read somewhere that Trump might be approaching a “Liz Truss” moment, but I’m not sure how that works in the US. There is no king to ask “are you still here? Oh dear, oh dear.”

perhaps it will be more like “et tu, Elon?”

The China risk for Apple is huge. China is likely to stand up to Trump in more ways than one. I think the probability of a Taiwan blockade has gone up a lot.

Apple will survive, but profits and the stock price have a long ways to fall.
