Apple should provide transparency about the impact of tariffs on prices by breaking out the tariff cost on receipts, kind of like how the effects of a sales tax are presented. 

If companies do that, it will clarify for customers the effects of Trump's tariffs. That might make it harder for Republicans to toe the line. 

Apple should start a travel agency that specializes in visits to Apple stores in other countries where people can buy their Apple gear tariff-free and then carry it back into the US. 

Beware an old man in a hurry. 

I'm starting to think this really is the hill that Trump is prepared to die on.

Lots of people — including Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden — have supported targeted tariffs on adversarial countries combined with other measures, like the CHIPS Act, to support strategically important industries.

Thats not what Trump is doing.

Yup -- that's why I mentioned the Orwell quote. It occurs to me that the Orwell quote also is relevant to AI/LLMs. Much like someone who lives in an information bubble, an AI can hallucinate all kinds of crazy stuff because it doesn't come into contact with the physical world. But tariffs affect the physical world in ways that cannot be wished away. 

I think it's going to be interesting to watch as people's false ideas keep colliding with that physical reality. It's going to take some longer than others to reconcile their thinking with reality. Some people are already doing it, but others will take longer.
