I guess this speaks to what a shoestring budget Aspyr has for making Mac games.

Amazon might want to buy them out but it could be an opportunity for Apple to quickly get multiple AAA game studios and popular IP for <5% of their yearly net income.
Yeah, Apple could buy them, or hire their staff, or lots of other stuff. Key is to spend some $$ in a purposeful and realistic way to realize the full potential of Mac gaming which, I believe, is considerable.

  • Microsoft's Copilot+ gaming fail could be a big Apple Silicon win

This article reads like speculative fiction.

The biggest thing holding the Mac back in gaming is Apple’s lack of investment. Buy a game studio, or build one, or provide financial support to developers in the form of investments or no interest loans, or SOMETHING beyond “if we build it they will come” fantasy.

Without some real $$, Mac gaming will be what Apple TV was to video entertainment before Apple TV+ came along.

For a better Windows AI laptop use a AMD chip since they last longer and have better gaming capabilities than Intel. With that being said when Intel and AMD release their own ARM chips that’s when the gaming community will jump ship. Especially if laptops sporting those chips can also use a dGPU.
Sounds like lunar lake will be the Qualcomm killer. It really sounds like the x86 analog of the M3.

I guess this speaks to what a shoestring budget Aspyr has for making Mac games. The iPad version of the game is obviously apple silicon native and has been out for quite some time. I would think the vast majority of the iPad codebase can move pretty easily to the Mac.

Apple really needs to figure out a way to invest in Mac game development. Maybe they could offer zero interest loans to companies like Aspyr to port games to the Mac and only require payback of the loans if sales targets are met. Or any other idea, really.

  • Everything new in the third round of Apple Intelligence developer betas

install applications directly to an external drive.
Welcome news, though it’s crazy that this has to be a “new” feature — I could easily install apps on an external SCSI drive on my Mac iisi thirty years ago.

Would be nice if iCloud and other services that use the API could use an external drive as a local cache so I can have the files without taking up internal SSD space. That’s something I couldn’t easily do thirty years ago
