  • Apple to face class action over MacBook butterfly keyboard

Apple's voluntary repair program blunts most of the claim BUT these lawyers appear to be asking for a LOT more - like a recall and full refund. This isn't a defective Pinto that causes death or something so seems a bit much given Apple standing behind their product (and I've had issues with the butterfly keyboard unfortunately so am glad Apple made it easy to get a repair). I'm sure what the lawyers REALLY want is to be able to conduct discovery to see the extent of the issue knowing that Apple won't want to provide it. My personal opinion is that Apple has done the right thing and has done enough with its repair program to address the concern. Just greedy lawyers at this point...Apple gots the deep pockets.

  • How Apple survived the flawgic-filled 2010s, butterflies and all

20+ Mac laptops and never a significant keyboard issue until 2017 MacBook - so many key problems and numerous cans of air to fix at home. Finally had enough and sending it in. Will hand it to Apple to have an extended program for this faulty keyboard...hope they fix it. I have two 2017 MacBooks and one is fine the other terrible. I don’t mind the key travel at all. The issue is stuck and non functional keys. Horrible. Had fleeting issues with my 2015 MacBooks but would resolve quickly. Clean office and don’t eat at my computer - spotless. I’ve bought over $250K of apple stuff since 90’s for my business. This keyboard was my biggest problem so fortunate BUT no denying it is an issue. MacBooks could have sold a lot more. Waiting for MacBook Pro 13” with new keyboard in 2020 to buy two new ones. This is my experience. Yours may be different.

  • Apple has made it clear how you should wear your Apple Watch

So much misinformation about the Apple Watch Water Lock mode. Water Lock does NOT make your watch more water proof when it is on in anyway whatsoever. I swim, wash my hands and shower with my Apple Watch for years without an issue. If swimming the Apple Watch usually figures it out and activates Water Lock on its own to prevent spurious inputs. The only thing you need to be concerned about is your watch band (I use a Nike sport band which isn't affected by water) if it doesn't do well wet. No need to turn off the Apple Watch either. Just don't be stupid and clean it with a pressure washer (obviously).

Water Lock mode only does two things:

    (1) Turns off the touch input on the screen to prevent water from making spurious inputs such as activating a complication.

    (2) When you turn off Water Lock the beeps it makes are designed to cause vibrations to jiggle out water that maybe clinging to the speaker membrane so that the speaker sounds clearer before it is totally dry.

Again, Water Lock mode does nothing physical to make the watch more water proof --- it is already water proof enough for almost all activities anyway.

  • Goldman Sachs spends $350 for every Apple Card signup

I don’t think anyone is arguing that the Apple Card is a bad card, it’s just that for the majority of people it’s not significantly better than a lot of other cards and it’s puzzling to see people touting features as ‘special’ when they are so common that they are practically universal.

    EXACTLY.

  • B&H Payboo Card to refund sales tax on all orders [u]

Ummmmm. Am I missing something or is EVERYONE else missing something.

B&H is giving you back a "gift card" in the amount of the sales tax you paid. It is a "gift card", not a no strings attached debit card?

And this is what the discussion is apparently missing, I can still use my 2% cash back credit card at B&H and get a "gift card" for the 7% in sales tax I paid --- a total of 9%. That sure beats buying directly from Apple and only getting a total of 3% using an Apple credit card (paying the 7% sales tax).
