  • Customer rampages through French Apple Store, smashes iPhones, iMacs, MacBook Air

Total lack of critical thinking: his rampage will be far far more costly for him than buying a replacement for his defective product...

  • Apple planning to launch new MacBook Pro with OLED touch bar in late October - report

    Semi on-topic:

I wonder if Apple will call the next version of macOS "11"?  In 2017 we could have number synchronization across the two major OSes:
      - macOS 11
      - iOS 11
At that point why not just unify OS branding and call it appleOS?
Why doesn't Mercedes just unify class branding from A-class, C-class, E-class, S-class, V-class, etc. and call it "Mercedes class"?
wrong analogy. I'm talking about unifying the branding of the OS, not the hardware.
When Apple unveiled the first iPhone they referred to it as running OS X.
A year later they had already changed to saying iPhones used iPhone OS.
Then in 2010 Jobs himself said they changed the name from iPhone OS to iOS as it ran on iPhones, iPod Touches and the then new iPad.

You can't download an iOS app onto a macOS device and run the app just like that.
Having the distinct names of OS according to the nature of the device it runs on avoids the current Windows mess, where an app is described as Windows but the user has to work out whether it'll work on their PC, tablet or smartphone.

  • Apple to house 1,400 employees at London's restored Battersea Power Station starting in 2021

Very nice although I am conflicted over whether I feel the chimneys should be removed or not.    Perhaps if they can be put to an obviously new use but if just a reminder of the coal age I'm not so sure.  I of course realize they represent an (in)famous visual land mark too, hence my inner conflict.

The chimneys were added to the initial power station design only after residents of the affluent areas just across the river from the station voiced concerns about smoke affecting their health and buildings.

the chimneys are iconic and Grade II listed.  The development company had to get special planning permission to replace the chimneys; the replacements have to look identical.

I see little improvements to upgrade my iPhone to 7. I have 6 and and will wait for iPhone 8. I've been screwed by Apple support in the past and will wait. I was a hardcore Apple fan and bought every new phone every year. Never again. I will hold out until I see something worth the money, or switch to another phone from other brands!
So 12 dislikes for simply posting an honest perspective on the feature value versus your iPhone 6.  Doesn't seem that the community here is terribly objective with, or tolerant of, opposing opinions.  I happen to agree with your remarks, my 6plus doesn't call for an upgrade, based on Apple's current incremental product release.
The issue is whether Netac2015 is terribly objective in declaring there's "little improvement" going from iPhone 6 to iPhone 7, a statement from someone who "bought every new phone every year".  There's also the inconsistency of either omitting to purchase a 6S or confusing the "owned 6S" with an iPhone 6 which Netac2015 must also own if they're sincere with their statement.

The changes going from iPhone 6 to iPhone 7 are far more substantial than those made going from original iPhone to iPhone 3GS.
As a "hardcore Apple fan" Netac2015 was content with buying an original iPhone, iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS yet is now discontent with the far greater improvements going from iPhone 6 to iPhone 7.

It's these inconsistencies which make Netac2015's first post lack credibility and result in it being heavily disliked.
