  • How Steve Jobs saved Apple with the iMac 26 years ago

    Loved the Pixar lamp iMacs.

But the  best iMac I ever had was the G5. It was designed to be repairable and upgradable by the owner.  Noisy though. and the first intel that replaced it was basically unrepairable. This situation did not improve until about 2010. It still wasn’t easy, but you could do it. After that forget it.

My G5 was worst ever. After about 10 trips to shop (45 minutes away), Apple replaced it two years in under Apple Care with Intel model, which lasted for years. I think I read bad capacitors were a culprit in G5 failures, although pernt near ever part of machine was replaced. Weirdest issue was it slept on its own; if I let it sleep a while, I could use it for a spell before it slept again; if I immediately woke it, it slept within seconds. Freak show.

  • Sihoo M18 Ergonomic Office Chair review: fantastic back support for those who need it

I bought Steelcase Series 1 very comfy and adjustable in myriad ways. The 16.5-21.5” height from floor probably not adequate for some commenters. One of best parts was assembly: drop chair onto base, snap seat into place, and it’s done. Took longer to open the box and packaging than assemble it.

  • Apple's most affordable Mac mini is 18 years old

Slow updates are most mystifying things about switch to Mapple Silicon. The company said updates were stymied by Intel's slow progress, which made it seem (to this dolt, at least) that computer guts would regularly be swapped for newer innards. Instead, the slow pace has continued.

  • Taika Waititi slams Apple's MacBook Pro keyboards in Oscar speech

I went from 2009 13 inch MBP to 2019 MBA Retina. I typed my first few words wit trepidation, having not tried to tried The keyboard before purchase. I immediately realized, “O, man, I’m gonna be able to *fly* on this thing.”

Durability could be an issue but I’m loving the feel.

  • Apple wants you to share data between iPhones by pointing them at each other

Sorry, but if I'm onstage (musician) and need to AirDrop the next lead sheet to a band member, I don't want that telegraphed to the audience by picking up my 13" iPad Pro and pointing it at him/her.
Not to discount your experiences, but I've been performing music in a variety of settings (bars, churches, barns) for 30 years, and stuff like that is generally handled as part of gig preparation. You don't want to be waiting for Airdrop while the audience is watching. Although maybe your fans are so rabid it takes a while for the screaming to subside.
