They've proven pretty hardy against recessions and have the cash moat to survive most non apocalyptic downturns. With only .5 billion to go I'd put my money on them crossing 3 trillion soon, with the other suspects also likely to.

Apple's gross margin is highest its been in 9 years
Considering that even paying for a large SoC is nothing like paying Intel their margin, and the prices didn't drop in turn, I do imagine that Apple Silicon juiced it quite a bit.
I wonder, though, if the mini LED Macbook Pros will be more expensive, or they'll use that expanded margin from AS to keep it unchanged.

Patents be patents and this may never make into a product, but it sure would be cool! Apple Silicon plus amazing cooling all together, push it as far as it'll go in a laptop? Would be something to see.

2.2x slower doesn't sound "nearly as fast" as the 16. The low GPU utilization is because ML tasks are automatically dispatched to the neural engine instead.
