  • Cellebrite removes iPhone data extraction from most capable product

Cellebrite is a company that builds forensic devices used by law enforcement, governments, and others that can get their hands on one by legal and illegal means.
Fixed that for you. Don’t for a second think that only the “good guys” have these things.
Especially as one fell out of a truck in front of Signal!  Not saying whether Signal are bad or good guys, just noting that if someone with no special governmental access was able to get one, there are plenty out in the wild.

  • Apple reveals further details about AirTag's anti-stalking feature

Hum.....so if someone stole like a bicycle with an AirTag and they had an iPhone, would they “receive a notification that an unknown AirTag has been following them”?
Yes - that is a fundamental element of AirTags - they are less an anti-theft measure than they are a "find-my-item" measure.  This is distinct from find my phone which is designed to lean a little more into anti-theft as the phone itself is the potential target of theft (for example, not the case of the phone or the bag in which the phone might be).

  • Return of the Mac: How Apple Silicon will herald a new era at WWDC 2021

I hope that some of the limits of Apole Silicon will be lifted:

    1. no target disk mode

    2. more / expandable ram

    3. 3rd party graphics hardware
Agree with this list and the priority order.  Target disk mode was a nice Apple-only function.  And the RAM situation just looks like greed (at least for desktops where space is at a lower premium).

  • AirPods Max review: it's not easy to justify the price

Anyone have any idea if Atmos from AppleTV works through these?  I know spatial audio doesn't (because the AppleTV doesn't know where it is) but Atmos should still work to give surround.

  • Apple TV Remote app inspired Steve Jobs' concept of Apple TV Siri Remote

The Siri remote is absolutely the worst remote control I have ever used. One half of it is a touch surface that does undefined things when you touch it. There are no lights. It feels the same when you pick it up from either end in the dark. It is super small so it likes to slip down between the seats. The buttons are almost flush with the surface and arranged in a way that makes it hard to tell what you are pressing in the dark. It seems to have been designed by someone that does not have a home theater.
I agree it is not a great remote but note that the new remote now has a raised button so you know its orientation by feel (including in the dark).  I simply glued a small furniture bumper on ours to do the same on an old one.
