  • Trump claims Tim Cook has committed Apple to massive US investment

GOP needs some cover for the renewal and/or expansion of the $2 trillion tax cut from 2017. Business leaders claimed they would use the cuts for investments in infrastructure and employees but it mostly just went into the profit column or towards stock buybacks.
The unfunded tax cut made the rich richer and increased the national debt by a third, as it accounts for 25% of it or about $9T.

Re-elect a career grifter--now with a grudge--and this is what you get. Trump even bankrupted his own casinos, he's that savvy.
Congress needs to legislate the Citizens United vs. FEC decision out of existence. The mutant GOP we have won't do it, though.
Actually ALL of DC won't do that, every politician (right and left) feed off the donation flow coming in. Those who say they do not are lying.
Trump's overt, highly inappropriate if not illegal, pay-to-play behavior takes it to an extreme level.

  • New Asus Thunderbolt 5 dock provides external SSD storage & 2.5 gig networking

ASUS and UGreen are to be applauded thus far for at least getting TB5 units ready to ship out the door by end of Q1.
The article says ASUS hasn't shared the availability timeframe. UGREEN's will be available "in the coming months".
Meanwhile, Kensington has been shipping its TB5 dock (SD5000T5) for over a month.
It seems OWC has recently begun shipping a TB5 "hub" that adds 2 TB5 ports and supplies power--not really a dock.
I will re-iterate the need for docks with 10GbE, as 2.5GbE is almost passé. OWC has shipped a dock with 10GbE for years--it can be done and it's much more convenient than using a 10GbE TB dongle.

  • What speed to expect from M4 Ultra in the 2025 Mac Studio & Mac Pro

The solution would be to go with a monolithic die. In so doing, it leaves room to exceed the equivalent of two max chips combined. It also allows for the addition of GPU cores and RAM that wouldn’t otherwise be supported. With Nvidia discrete GPU boards (power hungry as they are) beating apples integrated chips in raw performance, it would make sense to punch with bad intentions in the pro tier machines. If you want to KO Nvidia, you’re going to need more than two max chips. A monolithic die with would enable a win.
God, I hope you're right. At the prices Nvidia charges, there would be room for a much higher failure rate for the larger chips, too.
