  • FBI using Israeli firm Cellebrite to help break into San Bernardino terrorist's iPhone

Now if the favorite phone company of the terrorist had just helped the FBI when first asked then the probably would have only cracked this phone which may, and probably will save American lives and even gained more support from Americans as a great company. But now that we know Apple = Islamic terrorist, the FBI had to develop a tool to crack every phone they so chose.
Congratulations on your second post and donning the guise of a government 'tool'

  • Apple, US prosecutors to present and cross-examine witnesses at iPhone encryption hearing

I hope not. I continue to be embarrassed by the actions of the US Government.
To make matters worse, there's no one in the upcoming election who will attempt to reign in the NSA, CIA, FBI, etc. Since both the Democratic elites and Republican elites have an unusually excessive degree of fear over the possibility of a Trump presidency, he will get my vote. If the country goes down, Trump will ensure that all of the politicians and wealthy elites go down too.

Mutually assured destruction. Like in the Cold War. Maybe only then will a real discussion take place and the country move forward rationally.
That smells like....well you work it out.

"...noting that auto-backups for "Mail," "Photos" and "Notes" were "turned off." "
Well if the FBI saw those options, it pretty much means they had the phone unlocked since where they are, in Settings.
This is giving dumb a bad name.

  • California Assembly considers bill to mandate encryption backdoors

It's about time to say it...Follow the Money!
Just who is sponsoring this buffoonery? Why are all their stated reasons just cut 'n paste versions of the same thing?
The argument amongst the opponents of the FBI/DOJ/government have explored all the facets of the case - good, bad and problematical. The status quo?...they're stuck in repetition mode and haven't even tried to allay public fears, address constitutional concerns...nothing.
On Fortune, they're saying that Feinstein is naming this the Freedom Bill  :'(

  • Craig Federighi: Security is an endless race, but the FBI wants to roll it back to 2013

As the needle swings over to to the sanity side on the Stupidometer...
Where are the security statements from the banking sector, the medical and insurance industry, the myriad e-commerce providers....?
Their credibility and reason to exist is equally on the line.
