  • Intel CEO hopes to win back Apple with a 'better chip'

Every year, Apple integrates more ancillary functionality into its silicon, all in service of the needs of the OS. When Apple finally integrates its nascent cellular hardware into its processors, does anyone think they'll unravel that to go back Intel, which sold all of their cellular capability to... Apple? From what I've seen of recent designs, less than 50% of Apple silicon is the CPU. Intel would have to beat Apple's efforts in CPU, GPU, AI, Encode/Decode and 5G/Wi-fi/60GHz RF.

Intel's only hope of winning Apple business is as a foundry, earning foundry margins.

  • Brazil will fine Apple again for not including charger with iPhone 13

I have at least a dozen little USB chargers piled in my kitchen junk drawer, along with a half dozen pair of corded earphones. While Brazil fines Apple for not including usually unneeded chargers, might the EU eventually levy fines for including them?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

  • iMac could be made from a single glass sheet in the future

Fixing the keyboard to the display is ergonomically terrible and makes no sense in a desktop computer. My keyboard is on an adjustable tray, 14 inches below the bottom edge of my iMac display and 11 inches in front of it, tilted backwards 10 degrees. I will purchase no computer that doesn't allow me to replicate this geometry, which eliminated my nearly debilitating RSI pain over 20 years ago.

  • Apple engineers lack optimism about the Apple TV strategy, claims report

We have five AppleTVs driving five different brands of TVs/projectors. Using the shared Home Screen, we need understand only one interface and the experience is identical everywhere. All remotes are the same, all apps are in the same place, our favorites and histories are on all units, if we pause viewing in one place, we can pick it up in another. Does anyone else offer that?

  • Users report some original HomePods 'bricking' with software version 14.6 update

When was OS version 14.6 issued for HomePods? Is it new today?
I noticed it on my HomePod Mini a few days ago. Autoupdated.
All of mine are at 14.6 and are functional. I have autoupdate set to off, yet I have noticed previously that some or all do it anyway, which is unsettling. I prefer to watch for issues before choosing to proceed with updates. This is why I'm trying to confirm when 14.6 actually came out.

Correction: Automatic updates for HomePods was set to "off" in the Home app on my iPhone, but was still set to "on" in the Home app on my Mac. I've changed that there now. This shouldn't be. Those settings should synchronize regardless of which device I use to change them.
HomeKit synchronization is a mess. Like you, I get different views of my HomePod/HomeKit system depending on which device I use to view. I can open my iPhone and start/stop playback on a HomePod my iPad says is "Not Responding".
