  • Apple officially pulls iMac Pro from its online storefront

Ah, my lovely iMac Pro. I still take care of it like it just came out, and I just bought it.  Let's see how long it will last

  • Epson's EcoTank ET-4760 review: a multi-function powerhouse at a steep price

I recently bought ET-3760 and so far it's working for me. My first printer ever, well kind of... since Epson LX 800 dot matrix bought sometime in 1987, lasted decades :) Never really needed a printer as I don't print and try to live my life paper free but in this pandemic, I pulled the trigger on one in order to print the occasional return shipping labels as everything is closed in lockdown and can't go anywhere outside for printing. Struck on a good deal at Costco for ET-3760, which also came with an extra (now two) free black bottle of ink. I think overall its was good deal compared to Amazon and other sellers back in November 2020.

Between ET-3760 and ET-4760, I think difference is the absence of fax and I am no need of having a fax machine. Other than that, they are identical and don't  justify to spend close to ~150$ more to get ET4760. In fact ET3760 printing more pages in real life test  as per...

I was thinking to get EcoTank Pro but since I hardly print a page or two in a month on an average, I don't think if I will never need a printing powerhouse.

But regardless which one you pick, you can't go wrong with Epson.

Not sure I believe Apple's insistence that MacOS isn't going to end up as locked down as iOS either. One OS is less maintenance and that's more $$$ for the beancounter that is Cook.
Apple has more than iOS and macOS to maintain. They also have iPadOS, tvOS, and watchOS. Your claim of one OS is faulty. There are five.
iOS, tvOS, watchOS and iPad OS are essentially the same OS with a different UI. macOS is (for now) a relatively distant relation. Plenty of things are shared, but Darwin on macOS is not the same as it is on iOS/tvOS/watchOS/iPadOS.
Agree. Mac OS has certainly lost the pitch since...well, some times after Mavericks I guess. Just can't stop thinking about Aperture. I miss it so much.

And you'll still need to use a dongle for a wired connection to an iPhone because it doesn't have a 3.5mm jack, and there's no Lightning to Lightning cable available.

Lightning needs to go away already.
You're saying you would choose to double-adapt wireless headphones to your iPhone, rather than use them, you know, wirelessly? Okaaay.... Ima go out on a limb then and say these aren't for you, and that's OK.
There are those who claim a wireless connection can never be good enough. The same crowd thinks lossless is the only true religion even though they couldn’t hear the difference in an anechoic chamber if it came up and bit them.
Then you have yet to listen to the true lossless sound.  Rather I would way, you never experienced listening to music in its all spectrum. As of this time, wireless can only deliver maybe 10% of what a truly capable audiophile wired IEM like IE 800 S or headphones like HD 820 can deliver. And anyone can hear the difference if try them out. Wireless has a long way to go. At this pace, I am projecting about 15+ years before I see something reasonably good wireless earphones.

  • Updated iWork and GarageBand apps get refreshed design for Big Sur

Does anyone uses iWork apps outside a home setting?

Yes, I use Numbers quite frequently for work. Since my organisation moved on to Office 365, it's been a pain, literally disaster in MS Office suite, to do anything in MS Office. I always find myself copying Excel files over to Numbers on my Mac and then export it back to Excel as mostly folks are using Excel.

And I can do most of things in Numbers, its much more fun to use Numbers than Excel, imo. The more I use it more I discover smart/new ways to put the formulas in my spreadsheet.

Another thing that I am noticing at work is that more folks are getting Mac notebooks and now they are offering new employees to pick their choice Mac or PC. I made a mistake when I started out, I chose Lenovo laptop as I heavily use Excel a lot. Like VBAs/macros and other advanced statistical analysis and thought I might not be able to do it on Mac as effectively. Even Excel on Mac is not as good as it's on PC but since Office 365, I am now seriously considering asking my manager to get me Mac =, and see how it goes.
