  • Latest rumor pegs secure iris scanner for Apple's 2017 iPhone

I have to disagree with the general tone of the comments here.  An iris scanner would be great in cold weather while wearing gloves, working outdoors while wearing gloves,
but not when it's bright out so you're wearing sunglasses. Or dark out. Or when the phone is in your pocket and you have to take your glove off to get in your pocket. But hey... details.

And your point might be taken a bit better if you didn't decide to denigrate a chunk of the population with a dumbass remark.

Blech. Why would anyone want an iris scanner, especially with the speed the phone unlocks already on the 6S? Don't stare directly into the scanner! That's actually what Samsung says.

I would immediately turn that feature off if it was implemented.

  • CVS continues Apple Pay snub, launches barcode-based 'CVS Pay'

How many different stores does one individual shop in? Can you imagine an app for each store? It'd be 2 screens worth of store apps - something no one wants to deal with. Hell, sometimes I don't even know which store I'm in. Just like no one wants about 30 of those cards on their keychain, no one wants all those apps on their phone. Unless it's somewhere one goes often, people just aren't keeping those around.

I tried the Target app(s) for discounts but gave up on them because they are such a hassle to deal with, even if they do use beacons to make it easier to open.

Just tie it to Apple Pay and be done with it!

And to the guy who says Apple makes money on it so it's not free - well, it's free to you and me.

  • Apple counsel Bruce Sewell calls DOJ filing 'cheap shot' that seeks to 'vilify'

Obama's DOJ are behaving like terrorists.
Don't think this just started with Obama. It's not a left/right argument, it's an authoritarianism/libertarianism (lets call it up/down) issue.
Since the terror attacks (and before, really), we collectively have become more afraid, and more likely to cede to these fears, leading to a rise in authoritarians in control.

This is what you get when you let them pass the PATRIOT Act over and over again.
"I'm doing this to you for you."

    No thanks.

  • Law enforcement groups, San Bernardino victims file in support of government in Apple vs FBI row

Is there anyone who you would trust less than the actual victims (and families) of an attack to think clearly about whether it is a good idea or not? Good lord, these people are hurting and just want answers, and in their grief cannot see beyond their loss.

Way to tug on emotions rather than looking at facts, Gov.
