  • Employees pan Tony Fadell-led Nest as poorly managed, fear-driven machine

That is a pretty callous attitude. Not everyone is in a position to just pack up and leave a job that they are unhappy at. If you have a mortgage, kids, etc. you can't just say "take this job and shove it," as satisfying as that might be. Having worked in toxic environments before in general I agree that one should try to leave them, but the way out is not necessarily simple or quick for many people; particularly if they work in a field where employment is hard to come by. That a person is free to quit a job should never be used as a justification for abuse.
This is an article about Nest, not just any job. One may safely assume the employees working there are well paid.
What does that have to do with anything? Just because they make a lot of money, that gives someone else the right to abuse them? That's utter bullshit.

  • ExxonMobil to accept Apple Pay at the pump through Speedpass+ [u]

I think I want a list. There is this page:

    http://www.apple.com/apple-pay/where-to-use-apple-pay/

My local grocery store put in a chip reader, but "it doesn't work yet." I swipe my card, then the checker/clerk asks "I need to see your card."
I ask "do you need the last 4 digits?"
    "Yes"
    "it is xxxx"
    "Thanks!"

    What's wrong with this picture?

I see that too.  Everywhere I shop they all have the chip readers and they all require you to swipe.  But what's just as bad is that at the places that I've found that take ApplePay, about half require you to sign on the screen too.  What's the point?
At the places that actually make you use the chip part, it's a worse/longer experience.
Half the time, the customer (me) has not inserted the card far enough because the reader doesn't hold the card well, and in all instances, the transaction takes longer to process. Why? I have no idea, but it takes longer than even swiping the card.It makes no sense to me.

Meanwhile, when I can go somewhere with ApplePay, I use my watch and it's done in no time. And even if I have to do it twice, it is still much faster than the chip readers.

  • Apple guides first-ever iPhone sales decline in Q2

Call me naive, but I don't understand how any product is supposed to grow quarter after quarter indefinitely.
This can't be said enough. Wasn't 2015Q2 a massive blowout and shocking to everyone everywhere? EVERYONE should have known that unless the general economies of the world were firing on all cylinders that the chance of not being able to meet such a quarter again would be tough to do. I thought this when it was happening.

This insane quest (for anyone, not just Apple) for ALWAYS beating EVERY YoY quarterly results is defeatist.

  • BlackBerry CEO bashes Apple's data privacy policies

I do not agree with Apple's position regarding data either. Can someone please tell me when the government or law enforcement agencies have used data to wrong its citizens? The constitution is fucking outdated people and needs to evolve with the times.
    That's right. F%$& the Constitution. We're at WAR!!1!1!

In any case, why is it so hard to understand that building a back door makes it possible for anyone with a key to open it, which puts us all at risk?

  • Apple pushes iPhone 6s pop-up ads to App Store users on older iPhones, angering users

I don't like it. Often, when I'm going into the App Store, I get the ad for downloading more of the Apple Apps (it lists them all, including the ones I have already) wanting me to download more of them. In fact, I've already deleted them, I don't want them back.
Once is fine. Once a week is not. And there's no "don't remind me again" button.

For those of you claiming "just a quick click to make it go away" - what about that is good UI design? Wasn't the point of having excellent UI to not have to make extra clicks to do something?

It gets in my way when I'm in the middle of getting an app. It's not good, no matter how insignificant you think it is.

    Edit:
And last time I checked, I don't have to rip through a poster to walk into a store. It's more like getting sprayed by a cologne salesman. Anyone ever complained about them?

    I bet so.

Edit 2: And I'm not one who complains about what Apple does.
