  • Consumer Reports ranks iPhone X behind Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8 series in testing

CR is out of touch...always have been. I remember back in the day, they would rate various Windows laptops as better 'value' than Apple laptops.

That's when I cancelled my subscription.

CR is for the Costco crowd who buy Samsung TV's, Android cellphones and HP computers where if it's cheap, its has to be good value.

It's written by unimaginative former IT 'engineers' weened on Windows! Left up to them we'd still be using Motorola Razors, working on Windows Desktops. Ugh!  :)
I was looking at refrigerators recently, and at CR's reports on them. They often had the Samsungs high on the list. When our appliance repair guy came over, I asked him - he said "no - do not buy a Samsung refrigerator, they have so many problems. None of them. You're better off sticking with the GEs."

He had a Samsung phone. I trust my repair guy more than CR.

  • Target launches 'Wallet' mobile payments platform, continues to ignore Apple Pay

That's all I want - yet another Target App on my phone. They are so clunky to use. I have to scan everything I put in my cart to see if there's a discount? Good god.

And how do they store the Red Card information? Is it secure and in the Apple locked location? Is it just sitting in YET another location on their servers for someone to be able to hack?

Stop with all the store apps. I don't even like using the grocery/drug store VIP cards, much less an app that clutters my phone.

  • Face ID on iPhone X is just as fast, if not faster, than Touch ID

“Works most of the time.” That’s a phrase I’m reading in other reviews also. Well, “most of the time” isn’t good enough. It has to work EVERY time or people will simply abandon it. If you have to repeat the process a second time once in a while that’s going to be be a problem. But let's assume that the AI involved will learn and get better with time.
TouchID fails all the time for me. Sweaty fingers, dirty screen, gloves in the winter (just doesn't work), I cut my thumb a few weeks ago and had to use my left hand for a week to unlock my phone. I can't wait for FaceID.
Thanks for letting the world know which digit you use for TouchID. Instead of choosing one from ten it is now only one from two. You have made your phone a whole lot less secure. May I humbly suggest that you disable TouchID right now.

YES ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS IDENTIFY THIS PERSON, FIND HIM/HER, AND THEN WE NEED ONLY TO TAKE HIS/HER THUMBS TO GET IN HIS/HER PHONE.

  • Apple's iPhone X passes twin test in early hands-on with Face ID

CNN did a test with two identical female twins and they were able to beat the FaceID security.

    http://money.cnn.com/video/technology/2017/10/31/iphone-x-first-impressions.cnnmoney

They cheated. They enrolled the first twin and immediately tried the second twin.
I'm curious, not challenging: how is this cheating?
