  • Lufthansa AirTags ban based on incredibly bad regulation interpretation

What Lufthansa is missing is the fact that a lot of checked bags do not originate on Lufthansa. Other Star Alliance members (like United, Air Canada, etc.) have passengers connecting to Lufthansa flights around the world. Does Lufthansa expect their Alliance members to police this for them?

  • Apple Studio Display only starts at $1599, and can easily climb to $2458

For what it's worth, I did come across a recent review of a tilt-adjustable stand that also accommodates VESA mounts and permits screen rotation to either landscape or portrait orientation in addition to position/tilting. Among other sizes, it is listed to support 100 x 100mm, which is what specified for the Studio Display VESA option.

This may be worth investigating. As I am looking at this, one further item is worth noting... the unit is designed for monitors weighing between 20 - 42 pounds and the Studio Display (VESA option) is 12.1 pounds. If I find other options that address this, I'll add a posting.

  • Leaked M1 Ultra Mac Studio benchmarks prove it outclasses top Mac Pro

    rob53 said:
Turning them on their side lets you put five in a 3 or 4U rack. That's 15A/120V per shelf. A rack of these could use a much lower kVA UPS than the old Intel Mac minis. I wish I was still working, I would have ordered several right away.
Turning them on their side may not be effective from a thermal cooling perspective, as they are probably designed to utilize the fact that hot air flows upward. Turning on the side could give rise to some measurable thermal imbalance. Whether this would be significant or not; this will become clear as the Mac Studio Ultras become available.

  • XCode may be coming to the iPhone and iPad very soon

This would be a boon for developers creating apps that involve GPS, as it would be relatively easy to get and test with live GPS signals, when developing outdoors on an iPad.

  • Apple unveils new iPad Pro with 3D scanner, trackpad support

    ...
Apple needs to bring Xcode, Logic and Final Cut to iPadOS.
No, they don't. People need to use Macs for the most serious work, and always will.
I have to disagree regarding Xcode not being a good addition to the iPad Pro. For building AR apps for the iPad Pro with location based experiences involving live GPS data as an integral part of the app, this opens the possibility of testing an app in a real world setting, rather than having to simulate data. Additionally, it becomes possible to test sensors on the device and also monitor/optimize performance settings. Although this is specific to the developer community, everybody benefits from new and improved apps.
