    Is that what this is?

I mean, I'm a Mac user through and through, but man if my livelihood counted on render times more than it does now, I'd probably be strongly considering biting the bullet and getting one of these to get my work done.

I'm optimistic that Apple is aware of these issues by now and did not go into this Mac Pro thing to half-ass it, but we'll see soon enough I guess. :D
Wow, who would have thought that a workstation from 2018 / 2019 would ever beat the 2013 Mac Pro...?!?
Yeah, but that's also called a 2019 Mac Pro (as has been mentioned above)...

  • Student sues Apple for $1 billion over false arrest linked to facial recognition tech

There is less than no basis to his complaint: he will likely get nothing, including no settlement. His complaint should not be directed at Apple or the security firm, as they did nothing directly to facilitate his arrest. The arrest was the result of a presumably lawfully issued warrant, so his whining about the conduct of the police and courts will do no good. Hint: this is not a matter of false arrest. He should take responsibility for his loss of his temporary identification and find another way to snatch his "15 minutes of fame!"
Let’s drag you out of bed at 5AM for a crime you didn’t commit, using an arrest warrant based on a picture that doesn’t look like you, and see if you don’t do a little “whining”.
This is an Apple fan site... It's nonsense when it impacts Apple, it's a serious issue when it's somebody else (don't know how many comments were made about MS/Samsung/etc calling them out, yet when it's Apple with the same issue then it's "nothing to see here. move along"... which is just saying "this might impact AAPL share price and my portfolio. Keep your heads in the sand".

Apple should suck up to this kid and given him something more than fair... 100k and a sweet set of top-end gear would be fine. A billion is just to get press attention in order to create a incentive to settle more quickly

  • T-Mobile working with Apple to bring robocall screening to iPhones

What I don't understand is at least why not have an option for blocking No Caller ID calls... over 80% of the ones I get are those (at least here in the Netherlands)... You don't even need the carrier... if the iPhone gets a call it'll show as NCID let me turn on a setting to have it never ring. Being an iOS developer I know that's a lunchtime project for a developer (then months of testing :/)

  • Apple's 31.6-inch professional display may arrive soon, 17-inch MacBook Pro in early 2021 ...

Can't wait for the Mac Display -- finally!

As to the 17", MBP, meh. If it's mostly a larger version of my new 15" (which is as heavy, if not slightly more so than the 2016 model), it'll be way too heavy to carry around.
"it'll be way too heavy to carry around." - Given it would still be ~2.5kg then guess before 2016 15" MBPs were " way too heavy to carry around"...

I used to lug the 16lb Mac Portable around... and could deal with it... but I came from a generation that wasn't entitled or whinny.

  • Netflix disabled AirPlay because it isn't being told what device is getting the stream

That's right Netflix, just keep giving me reasons to cancel the service.  Fucking "thought police".
Indeed... I've been a Netflix subscriber since they launched the service (I mean shipping DVD days) and never though about switching... between this and the hassles I have with geo-locking (I spend much of my time out of the US) they're telling me if I want the best experience, then dump them (heck even torrents are easier for me to get their programming than the DNS/VPN games I have to play... I "justify" it by telling myself I'm paying for their service, but I'm reaching a point where I realize Netflix doesn't give a rat's behind about customers like myself)... or now many others
