First look: Apple launches iPad Pro in new 10.5" form factor with vibrant 120Hz screen
Got my 10.5" iPad pro yesterday. Upgraded from an iPad Air (1st gen). Air still works fine, but was getting a bit long in the tooth during processor rich applications. Also, the hardware has gone through some serious changes since then (stereo speakers, true tone display, 120Hz, thumbprint sensor) so I decided it was time for an upgrade. Couldn't be happier. This is truly a marvel of a product. The interaction is flawless. Scrolling, navigation, pinch and zoom work in ever application with zero lag, it's remarkable. The larger screen is a nice addition too. Multitasking (for what iOS 10 offers) works well too. Can't wait to see what iOS 11 brings to the table.
I upgrade my iPhone each year. Lately, the improvements are noticeable, but phones are so powerful I'm not blown away when the new model is released (as far as speed). Back during the iPhone 3/4/5 model refreshes, things seemed more dramatic to me with each upgrade. Going from the Air to the 10.5" pro feels like one of those mega upgrades, where you're fine with the old model, but when you experience the latest processor, memory, etc. all working in unison it's just a whole new interaction with the device. -

How to get more Aerial Apple TV videos or change your screensaver outright
anantksundaram said:I am going to finally get around to buying an AppleTV 4. The 2nd Gen in the basement is getting long in the tooth (e.g., the YouTube app is gone), so I have to bite the bullet.
This is the FIRST EVER Apple product purchase that I can recall where I am going, "meh."
The only question I have is whether I should save $50, i.e., whether a 32GB will suffice... -
Apple CEO Tim Cook urges employees to 'move forward together' in memo on 2016 presidential election
Would Tim have cared about all the Trump supporters had Clinton won? I doubt this letter would have been sent had his favorite candidate taken the victory.
Liberals drive me nuts, they're so self righteous and think their views are the absolute truth that if things don't go their way they the system is just wrong and American is broken. Sorry, but 49.9999999% (yes, Clinton won the popular vote by the amount of people that go to a LSU football game on Saturdays) of the people decided they wanted to support Trump and give something else a try besides another Clinton in the White House. 12 years of Bush and 8 years of Clinton since 1988...time to f*cking move on! All these protests the day after, what are they protesting? This wasn't someone sneaking into the White House unlawfully, Trump won fair and square.
When Obama won his first term, as a conservative I was crushed. This guy with very little political experience who was just getting gushed over by the media, won in a landslide. It was inevitable. But that's what the people wanted. You didn't see me marching down the street in a self righteous attitude screaming 'not my president'. I accepted his victory and moved on. 8 years later, we have (of course in my opinion) one of the worst pieces of legislation ever written in Obamacare. And this is a very unpopular piece of legislation, so the people have decided to support someone who vows to overturn it. We'll see if that actually happens, but this is how the system works. It's a great system and we are the leaders of the free world!
All this sh*t about "what do I tell my kids when they wake up in the morning and find out Trump won". Get a grip and tell them the political process is working. You can't win every time, and if your candidate didn't win, that doesn't mean everyone else is wrong. -
Microsoft looks to lure MacBook owners with $650 trade-in discount off Surface devices
I've been using a Surface Pro at work for the last 6 months. Unfortunately it was the only portable solution for us as we needed a Windows based computer to run our ERP system. The Surface is a f*cking joke, honestly. The only good thing about it is the pen is pretty sensitive and works well, but as a laptop, it's terrible. The keyboard and trackpad are so subpar compared to a Mac...especially my 12" MacBook, which is the most comfortable and portable computer I've ever used. The trackpad on the Surface is tiny and not nearly as responsive and the keyboard is a joke (loud and clicky). And of course running Windows 10 is no fun. Constant changes to user settings for no reason. Apps crash all the time. And don't even get me started on the battery of the Surface. About 4 hours of usage if you're lucky.
And a touch screen. Unless you're a graphics designer, I just don't see why anyone would ever want to use a touch screen on a laptop. It just not natural, not fluid, and using a touchscreen in a Windows environment is a joke. When we first got our Surfaces, we tried it because it was something new and different. Now EVERYONE that has one in the office resorts to the trackpad and keyboard and never uses the touch screen, because it's just not natural.
And running Windows 10 at the native resolution is nice and crisp when using the Surface as a tablet, but everything on the screen is so small, it's almost impossible to click on anything with your finger accurately. There's a reason there' s a difference between a mobile operating system and a desktop operating system.
Anyone who trades in their Mac for a Surface is making a huge mistake.
