  • Apple Watch Nike+ to launch on Oct. 28, Apple says

Sweet!  I've had mine on order since the pre-order launch date, it's been a long wait but I'm glad it's close and they have an official release date.

I've been using a series 1 for about 8 months now and love it.  As a runner, it's an invaluable tool to help me control my workouts, log my activity, and control my music app while I run without having to fumble for my phone.  I also love being notified of text messages, phone calls and alerts without having to have my phone right next to me.  This is really handy at work where I'm out and about from my office all the time...I don't have to take my phone with me to get email alerts and phone calls (although I don't answer the calls...I can see who's calling me and if they leave a voicemail).

I'm hoping to see some improvements with the Series 2 with regards to input response time.  The Series 1 does suffer from lag, although WatchOS3 improved this significantly.

I dig these new Nike bands.  I opted for the black and grey version.

  • Hammer finally falls as Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is officially, permanently discontinued

This is a very interesting time.  I can't remember a recall of an electronic device of this magnitude because of exploding batteries.  Considering the amount of portable electronic devices circulating the globe today, it's hard to believe this hasn't happened before, especially in cheap off brand devices.  I would think the quality control of a company like Samsung would have avoided this.

I'm sure Apple (and most other companies) are upping their R&D expense to make sure this doesn't happen to them in the future!  I think Samsung with survive this, considering they have their fingers in so many other products, but I can only imagine if Apple were to go through this, could be the end of the company given how significant the iPhone is to their overall company performance.

I just hope we don't hear of any deaths from these batteries.  I can only imagine one of these catching fire while someone is driving down the freeway...

  • Back in black: iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus mega review

I have a 7+ on order, hope to have it next week.  I'm curious to see how I deal with the lack of headphone jack.  I will probably pick up an extra lightning to 3.5mm adapter to start with.  In my car I connect my phone to my stereo via a 3.5mm cable, so I'll need one there full time.  I also have a couple wired headphones that I use most of the time, so I'll need my other adapter for those.  After time I'll get an idea of how much I miss having the jack.

However, I pretty much embraced this change even if I don't know I'm ready yet because I'm an Apple fan, and I'm 100% committed to their ecosystem.  Unless I want to 1) stop at the iPhone 6S+ and never upgrade my phone again or 2) switch to Android, then I have to make the switch now or sometime in the future. I'm sure as hell not switching to Android, and with 2 MacBooks, an iPad, 2 Apple TVs and an Apple watch, I don't think I'm leaving Apple anytime soon!  So next week I'll see how it goes!  I am looking forward to the upgraded camera system on the new phone for sure!

  • Tim Cook's fundraiser for presidential candidate Hillary Clinton set for tonight

Either way, vote Clinton or Trump votes are merely a public affirmation that you're a partisan idiot.

Just do the right thing in November and vote Libertarian.  Everybody needs more Johnson.

I won't bother to get into his pretty remarkable record in Mew Mexico as a legislator, nor the fact he might be the only living politician who has ever effectively balanced a budget.

All you need to know are these advantages over Hillary and The Donald:
    1. He behaves like an adult
    2. He isn't a scumbag
    3. He's not a criminal
    4. He's not an idiot

Libertarians have my vote this year.  I live in Washington State, so my fate is already determined.  Might as well vote my conscience and then sit back and watch these two douchebags battle it out.

  • Inside watchOS 3: Apple Watch gets improved glance-ability with new complications, watch faces

I've had my Apple watch for 4 months now, and I really like it.  It's really handy for a runner like me, being able to control my music and Map My Run app from my watch rather than having to fumble with my phone while running.  That alone was worth the purchase price.  But beyond that, getting notifications without having to have my phone on my person, especially when around the house, is also incredibly handy.  But the watch definitely shows signs of a first generation product.  I'm still learning the nuances of how to navigate around watchOS and find the best ways to activate and control the apps I use the most.  These new updates look incredibly promising in streamlining control of the watch and making it much more user friendly.  Can't wait until this is release, going to really change the watch for the good.
