"Dirrty"

(feat. Redman)

[Redman:]

Ah, dirrty (dirrty)

Filthy (filthy)

Nasty (Christina), you nasty (yeah)

Too dirrty to clean my act up

If you ain't dirrty

You ain't here to party (woo!)

Ladies (move)

Gentlemen (move)

Somebody ring the alarm

A fire on the roof

Ring the alarm (and I'm throwin' elbows) [7x]

Oh, I'm overdue

Give me some room

I'm comin through

Paid my dues

In the mood

Me and the girls gonna shake the room

DJ's spinning (show your hands)

Let's get dirrty (that's my jam)

I need that, uh, to get me off

Sweat until my clothes come off

It's explosive, speakers are pumping (oh)

Still jumping, six in the morning

Table dancing, glasses are mashing (oh)

No question, time for some action

Temperature's up (can you feel it)

About to erupt

Gonna get my girls

Get your boys

Gonna make some noise

Wanna get rowdy

Gonna get a little unruly

Get it fired up in a hurry

Wanna get dirrty

It's about time that I came to start the party

Sweat dripping over my body

Dancing getting just a little naughty

Wanna get dirrty

It's about time for my arrival

Ah, heat is up

So ladies, fellas

Drop your cups

Body's hot

Front to back

Now move your ass

I like that

Tight hip huggers (low for sure)

Shake a little somethin' (on the floor)

I need that, uh, to get me off

Sweat until my clothes come off

Let's get open, cause a commotion (ooh oh)

We're still going, eight in the morning

There's no stopping, we keep it popping (oh)

Hot rocking, everyone's talking

Give all you got (give it to me)

Just hit the spot

Gonna get my girls

Get your boys

Gonna make some noise

Rowdy

Gonna get a little unruly

Get it fired up in a hurry

Wanna get dirrty

It's about time that I came to start the party

Ooh sweat dripping over my body

Dancing getting just a little naughty

Wanna get dirrty (oh, oh)

It's about time for my arrival

Here it comes, it's the one

You've been waiting on

Get up, get it up

Yup, that's what's up

Giving just what you want

To the maximum

Uh oh, here we go (here we go)

You can tell when the music

Starts to drop

That's when we take it

To the parking lot

And I bet you somebody's

Gonna call the cops

Uh oh's, here we go's (here we go)

Ohh ooh ohh, yeah yeah...

[Redman:]

Yo, hot damn, Doc a jam like a summer show

I keep my car looking like a crash dummy drove

My gear look like the bank got my money froze

For dead presidents I pimp like Huddy roll

Doc the one that excite ya divas (ow!)

If the media shine

I'm shining with both of the sleeves up

Yo Christina, better hop in here

My block live and in color, like Rodman hair (yeah)

The club is packed, the bar is filled

I'm waiting for sister to act, like Lauryn Hill

Frankly, it's a rap, no bargain deals

I drive a four wheel ride with foreign wheels

Throw it up

Baby it's brick city, you heard of that

We blessed, and hung low, like Bernie Mac

Dogs, let 'em out, women, let 'em in

It's like I'm ODB, the way I'm freaking

Wanna get rowdy (rowdy, yeah)

Gonna get a little unruly (ruly)

Get it fired up in a hurry (hurry)

Wanna get dirrty

It's about time that I came to start the party (party)

Sweat dripping over my body (body)

Dancing getting just a little naughty

Wanna get dirrty

It's about time for my arrival

Rowdy

Gonna get a little unruly

(Ooh oh)

Get it fired up in a hurry

(Ooh oh)

Wanna get dirrty

It's about time for my arrival

Dance and getting just a little naughty

So we have J.Lo saying how humble she is while Christina gets off on how "dirrrty" she is.... Both pretty much suck but J.lo's message is the better one: beautiful and rich yet humble vs....... dirrrrty. You make the call.

Hey Shawn, you gotta get it right man.

It's "Tight hip huggaz, low fa sho!"

    "fa sho" not "for sure"

If Christina releases the song she did on Letterman a couple weeks ago, she should win over some of the people turned off by the initial skankiness. It's a really beautiful ballad. I still maintain she can sing rings around any of the other younger chicks out there when she has the right song.

I liked J-Lo at first, but she's just in my (the public's) face too much these days.

    Jeff

Edit-Jeez, I just realized something: If I can get sick of seeing a woman who looks like her, how am I ever gonna live with seeing one of the farmer's daughters around here everyday?

I have heard that Christina's album is better than her first single, but that doesn't wash away the stench of skankiness as demonstrated by that first single. I think more than anything else that she is simply an opportunist. While I agree that she can sing rings around the current crop of pop-stars with the right song, I also believe that she has oversung on nearly every one of her singles since "What a girl wants." That's not very good when the object isn't to be a female Curt Kobain.

Though I don't see how you equate public exposure with liking somone or not. What's the argument there? I think J.Lo is trying to say that despite the public exposure, despite her riches, despite everything she has or at least sings about staying humble. And I think that's one of the best messages to offer.

I get your point Shawn. I missed the thread being about the lyrics. I just meant my own general (shallow, horndog) impression.

Given the content of both those singles and especially videos, I'd much rather have my teenage niece patterning herself after Jennifer.

    Jeff

Edit "niece" looks wrong to me no matter how I spell it.

Christina has a big voice, but no one has taught her how to sing yet. They need to age her another ten years and put her in a group where someone who knows music does all the writing with minimal creative input from the little miss. Some really sexy stuff could come out of a more mature verion of Aguilera, but they'll probably have her used-up/played out by the time she's ready to contribute something valuable. Gotta strike while the iron's hot I guess.

Does anyone else find the melodies (or lack thereof) strange with some of these pop-tart girl's songs lately?

When I think of "pop" I think catchy tune, like "Sk8r Boi"

I get that in my head all the time.

Dirrty and Slave For U by Britney just don't have that hook.

I can't really think of a catchy J-Lo song off the top of my head, either.

Just trends, I guess. Or maybe catchiness is relative?

That video is borderline porno, but hey, the girl looks damn good. Crotchless pants...getting spanked...yep, I honestly don't like the fact she went slutty on us. Is the song you're referring to called "Beautiful"?? That song gives you a better taste of her new album, Stripped, which has some tracks that showcase her amazing voice. When it comes down to it, Christina has a beautiful voice, it's just too bad her current image can't be the same.

Yeah, that sounds like the title. I really liked it anyway.

I don't really hold Drrty against her, it was one song, one video. Maybe she just needed to sow her ho oats!

And hey, slutty or not, I don't change the channel when it comes on Mtv!

Kidding, Kidding. The video does lend itself to comedy. The Sarah Michelle Gellar SNL skit was good, too.

IMHO, that dress symbolizes her class.

Geez, they could have at least used the "Infamous Green Oscar" dress! That's just lazy.

That marriage thread got to you didn't it?

    For what it's worth, I don't think she's a whore.

If it weren't for that one night with Puffy in the club with the shooting, her image would be a lot better, I think.

I can't remember, was she charged with weapons possesion?

    Jeff

Even the green dress you're talking about is pretty classy. A girl needs to be particularly confident about herself to wear such a thing. I think any male comments about she should be wearing more conservative dresses is a direct attempt to control her sexuality. Likewise, female comments saying the same thing are direct attempts to do the same thing only in the context of some female competition reduction complex. Call me a feminist, I don't care, I just think women should wear what they want as long as it's not raunchy or dirrrty.

Puffy was charged but Jennifer was not implicated in anything. Actually, Puffy was proven innocent of all charges, but the relationship could not stand the stress of the trial.

Oh, the marriage thread , well I would like to see some justification for these comments:

[quote] J Lo is SUCH a skank these days. She was so cute in "Anaconda" and she was so SEXY in "Out of Sight". Now she's like a fourth-rate Christina Aguilera.

What is this, her 7th marriage? Jeez...

I'm not quite sure how the number of one's marriages corresponds to one's skankiness, especially since most of the skanks I know are not married for exactly the opposite reason of getting married in the first place! If that's not the case, then I would like to know exactly how J.Lo is a skank. I even think that baselessly suggesting she's below "dirrry" Christina is subtly racist...

Interesting angle...err i am referring to your comments....ah hell.....the dress too . She is powerful when she wears that dress, exerting her sexuality in a classy way. I think appeals to modesty for her behalf by males really are attempts to control that sexuality and the power exerted from it. Weird how it works both ways like that...

ok, i dont really follow contemporary music at all, but i read through some of those lyrics, and it seems to me that ms. j lo is trying to seem humble. she fails miserably though. humbleness is not recognizing or acknowleding only a diminished measure of fortune. if every line she remarks about remembering the bronx is matched with two or three about how rich or successful she is, that isn't coming across as humble. then again, perhaps the point of that song is to be arrogant.

and its quite clear that christina wanted to be slutty for that song. its called fvcking dirty. what else could be expected?

and, for j's green vera wang: thats clearly slutty too. i understand that women have every right to be sexy, and to display their sexuality and whatnot in whatever manner they choose. but, when those displays of sexuality expose that much skin, and are that f*cking gorgeous, they are clearly trying to be skanky. chicks can (relatively) conservatively display theirselves, without taking that much off. the dress is definitely not classy. classy entails good taste.

also, i dont understand mtv. if people are watching these videos just to see sex-e chix, y not get pr0n? its a lot more direct.

I think they're both quite of the skankitude (deal with it, Shawn ), but Christina has, by FAR, the better voice. I've seen her on a couple of shows where she's singing a ballad or something that really puts her pipes/range to work and she has a really good, powerful voice.

I don't like J Lo's singing, what little I've heard (the singles and videos). I don't think she's a true, true "singer" as much as someone who can carry a decent tune.

Something about both of them can be extremely sexy at times (even when the skankosity meter is spiking), but, all in all, neither one are quite my cup of tea, appearance-wise and musically.

But if you held a gun to my head and forced me to choose between the two (to sit through a concert or purchase a CD), I'd definitely have to go with Christina.

I'd rather just pop in my DVD of "Out of Sight" and remember J Lo from that era. Hubba!

No, the point of the song is that despite those riches and despite her fame, she has or at least sings about staying humble as a virtue. You can't look at a line in isolation and deny its contribution to the overall message of the song. It's called the fallacy of taking something out of context. As far as your concept of "diminished measure of fortune," in no way does J.Lo deny that she is rich or belie that fact. She acknowleges that but says it has not changed who she is- and the message is undeniably that of humility, In fact, the above quote is something to which I already responded. Get on the ball, freak.

And so my point is made more clear! We have J.Lo singing about humility, a fact to which you agreed, and Christina singing about being "fvcking dirty." Like I said, you make the call.

Ha! So according to you, the degree of skanky-ness corresponds directly to how much skin a girl shows... (Excuse Me)

    (That's Better)

And that J.Lo was clearly trying to be skanky...

    (One Second)

    (Ok)

Yes, "chicks" can indeed conservatively display themselves, (adding sexist to your long list of applicable adjectives?), but they can also chose to not do so. Conservation of dress has no relationship to classiness. If that were the case, wedding gowns in Christian marriage ceremonies would be deemed less classy than that LL Bean turtleneck under the dress of some churchgoers. Read some of my points about women's sexuality.
