80 mb = the reason to have a cable modem.

    Get the downloads at:

They are also available via software update for those who are too lazy to click on links. (like me)

Yup. Saw the good news on <a href="http://www.macminute.com/"; target="_blank">MacMinute</a>. SWU is cranking away as I post this.

PS: Where's 10.2.4? I guess we'll have to wait a few more days.

    Or want resumable downloads.

Anyone else notice iMovie is version 3.0.1 not 3.0? Looks like Apple already had an update for it before it was released.

10.2.4 has been seeded once more to developers. *sigh* More waiting.

Anyone else *lose their iPhoto archive*???

The pics are still there, squirrelled away in their date-derived directories, and the album names are still there (and even the aliases in the album directories), but the library is empty.

    *Nice* one, guys. Jeez.

OTOH, I noticed that importing files no longer moves them into the iPhoto Library? Can it be true that we can now have iPhoto manage our files in any folder?

    Hmmm.

iMovie 3 ...brilliant. Really big update with amazing integration as promised. Loads of new title effects, faster all round and much cleaner looking. I'm very very happy with it..I can hardly beleive it's a free download. Who says macs are expensive (ok lots of people, but I don't feel it's justified).

iPhoto2 ..little better but still crawls with loads of photos..still, I can go check out the archive function, now where is it? off to look

I like how you can turn off drop shadows in iPhoto. Minimizes distortion and speeds it up a lot, especially when changing the sizes of the previews.

EDIT: This is my 1000th post. I suppose now I'm a member of the loser club... erm, I mean, the awesome Mac people club! <img src="graemlins/cancer.gif" border="0" alt="[cancer]" />

2nd EDIT: I just have to add a few more smokey smileys...

    Archive? (Trundles off to peek...)

No problem with iPhoto. Transfered my files without a hitch. I quickly made a slide show using a song from iTunes. Very nice. Will try some of the other new features later. I"m on a modem. It took a little over 2 hours to download. Timed out once and I had to re-connect. Software panel is great when that happens as all you do is quit, restart and it picks up where you stopped.

had me scratching my head for a few seconds..because it's too simple Just stick a blank cd or dvd (if you have superdrive of course) in and it appears in iphoto. click on a folder and it tells you how much space it'll take up. very cool. but I'm not sure if you have to create one folder for the disc or wether you can somehow drag and drop them.

    Very cool though.

In the read me it specifically says to back up your iphoto library in case of photo transfer failure...people should really read that before installing, and stop blaming apple.

...Just a little tip for some of you who may have dial-up and are wary of downloading large files (like iMovie/iPhoto etc.) , try <a href="http://www.igetter.net/iGetter.html"; target="_blank">iGetter</a>

Its shareware/freeware and a real bonus for large downloads - speedier downloading - auto reconnects if connection broken -auto shutdown after download - loads more!

Personally, I have found this little app a must have in situations like this

Kihaha: no problems here, and this despite two corrupt jpegs in the library that were there before the upgrade. Bummer.

re: importing folders from the local HD: I dragged a folder of images into iPhoto. It created a folder in my library with the day's date, but there's nothing in it. However, it also created a folder in the library using the created date (maybe last modified, they're the same in my case) and that folder has the images in it. So iPhoto does still does create copies of images in the iPhoto library folder when you import from the local drive.
