Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*its quite simple

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*What about a VPN

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*or Multi-Cored Processors

DKC says:

Â*Â*Â*is there some reason your asking a bunch of pointless questions right now?

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*or how about just giving up and admitting that you really only know that I like macs and you dont so therefore you try to bring me down

DKC says:

Â*Â*Â*i know you like macs

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*LOL, statistically?

DKC says:

Â*Â*Â*all they do is advertise well

Chris says:

DKC says:

Â*Â*Â*the worst thing they do is everything else

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*you just say stuff but have no examples to back it up

DKC says:

Â*Â*Â*they obviously aren't as upgradable either

DKC says:

Â*Â*Â*macs arent as upgradable

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*What cant I upgrade on a mac?

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*???

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*What program cant I run on a mac?

DKC says:

Â*Â*Â*they sell the same piece of shit in a bulk for like 2000 bucks for a better PC that costs 500, and new PC stuff comes out all the time that u can upgrade easily.. while on macs its a bunch of bs that no one would really care about anyways

DKC says:

Â*Â*Â*except for mac fanatics

DKC says:

Â*Â*Â*like you

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*you are so off base

DKC says:

Â*Â*Â*they are too simple and dont have the correct functions

Chris says:

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*Which is?

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*Macs have everything that PC's have

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*but with a better, more capable operating system

DKC says:

Â*Â*Â*you come well prepared- u must aregue with quite a lotta pps on mac vs PC. i'll argue with you someo ther time when i have every single minute "FACTUAL DETAIL" that you desire so much of how pcs own macs so hard.

Chris says:

Â*Â*Â*If anyone knowledgeable saw this convo they would just laugh at you

DKC says:

DKC says:

Â*Â*Â*ill come prepared next time

Yes, it's quite typical to be able to so thoroughly screw with zealots.

that is how PC bigots are...what do you expect?

and this is really pointless, u mostly just proved u know more about computer stuff then him from what i see...how does him knowing what multi-core means matter?

    ...i agree

This is just a typical case of a PC user picking a fight with me, I obviously know more about the issue than he does and threw out some buzz words just to see his level of knowledge. I just posted this to show that these people really do exist. You can lead a horse to water...

what you need to do is show that you're rationale, and level headed.

don't bother trying to preach to folks, it doesn't work. just makes them defensive, and then they aren't open minded.

i use both platforms. when people ask me about what to buy, i have no problem telling them which PC's are good choices, or which Macs.

if they say they want a PC, i don't hassle them about it.

however, when they walk into my office to ask this, i'm sitting there with a PB on my desk. there are two pc's as well. every time i'm using my mac, the pc's are sitting there in powersave mode.

at least half the time, if not more, this leads to the question "well, if this PC is so good, why are you using a Mac?"

from that point you at least have a prayer of making some headway. take it slow, don't condescend. just explain, in plain talk, why you choose one platform over another.

When you and your friend hit 18 years old, various things happen to the brain. Namely, you realize that you actually don't know everything.

Next time you do this, summarize it for us. Also, do you know what 802.11g is? (or how it's different from b and a?) You seem like a fine guy, but you never struck me as technical.

leave him alone, guys, he was just hopelessly fighting with a PC bigot about why macs are better by throwing out unrelated buzz words...is that so hard to understand?!

...seriously don't just argue, like it was said, peole get defensive...think about how u get when you hear macs being trashed. just use a car analogy...seems to be the pop thing to do

PC's are like big ole trucks or the fastest drag racing cars...they can go faster and do more things then say a BMW or Bentley. But BMW's and Bentley's are nicer because the way they are constructed, they thought that is put into them, and the overall design. Its tru, they can't go off roading like a ford truck, and they cn't go over 200MPH in less then 10 seconds, but they can go fast, and get you where u want to go comfortably and pleasingly...ok shi??y way to describe it.

its hard to describe to a PC user why macs are better, because you can't explain the overall feel and thought put into macs, they attention to detail and plain old experience. to them their PC is the same as mac and better because it can run >500 different solitairs, and it can also check email and look at the internet. I dont think they understand the appreciation we have for the GUI and the way things interact...and perhaps they never will, i mean they do use a PC, so they might not ever use a mac, and if they do, they probably won't care

    ...its really sad

I may not be the most technical person on this board but I do know the difference between 802.11g, b, and a.

802.11b was the 11 megabit per second standard that is used in older base-stations and "hot spots" around the world. Then 802.11a came, at 54 megabits per second but it is not backwards compatable with b, so Apple banked on g. 802.11g is 54 megabits per second but also fully compatable with b. So if you have g in a laptop it can run along with an older base-station at 11 megabits p/s speed. It can also run back up to 54 mb/s if you are using airport extreme. I think thats how it works?

Yes, but no one really cares or gets into that deep. Honest to goodness, who cares what people think? I gave up - a long time ago - getting into these sorts of arguments. It's like an eternal pissing contest that NEVER gets finished or with one side or the other conceding.

    Why bother?

Your online buddy digs PCs and hates Macs? What do you care? People think and believe what they do, for any number of reasons.

Sit back and let them and just enjoy your own life and take care of your own stuff. And, of course, bask in the inner glow and satisfaction that you use a superior OS (shh...just keep that part quiet and to yourself and life is SO much easier).

If someone asks me about Macs (out of genuine, honest curiosity and isn't coming across like Captain Dickhead), then sure, I'll talk to them. But I'm not going to get into an online quibbledicking session with someone and start flinging "oh yeah? Then what does [fill in the blank] mean, smartass?" questions at someone who a) obviously doesn't know and b) obviously doesn't care.

No one can rope me into a Mac vs. PC debate anymore. I'm not 24 anymore and I simply don't give a flying damn what others do or think. It's their lives.

My words of wisdom for the week. Enjoy them.

I think I am too idealistic and actually think I can make a difference. The trouble is that that conversation was being carried out with not just 2 but there was a 3rd person watching. That 3rd person is someone I know that wants to buy a Mac, the expensive 17'' PowerBook to be exact. I didnt want that kid ruining what I had sold my friend on, so I argued with him to make me look knowledgeable. That kid was saying stuff like "dont let him get you into that gay mac stuff, hes just lying." I want the truth and I want people to have the best.
