as reported by macminute (via yahoo news).

now why didn't they do this sooner? either way, i think that's a pretty good idea. not even the cost of shipping, either.

the link on apple's site and details is here

<a href="http://www.apple.com/education/macosxforteachers/"; target="_blank">X for Teachers</a>

p.s. anyone know why everyone on AI is showing up as "unregistered"??? happening at work AND on my home machine.

That's a pretty sweet deal. I am so glad my uncle is a teacher(and he doesn't own a Mac).

As for the unregistered stuff, everyone else is too. Ask a Mod for more.

I'm not going to say it, but this sounds very much like a rumor that was started here and looks to be playing out.

    hmmm....

which rumor? i remember "glove" from allencjones, but that seemed to be tied to the apple jaguar "family 5-pack," as well as the enterprise-level support packages that apple announced.

or was it something else i missed? i forget the exact details of rumors such as "david's stone." wasn't that software/OS related?

I don't remember hearing anything about this. I do, however, remember the 'Family Pack' thing.

Yea, that was him and the rumor. Didn't he say something about Apple would introduce a trial run to the Education market first? And wasn't it about Jaguar only...

He wasn't exactly right. Maybe he heard it from second hand sources, but the Family Pack and now this FREE education Jaguar seems to show he must of had sources. Right?

No, you guys didn't miss anything, it just seems real close that he nailed some things. And the whole Elvis and Presley names are close? Something seems to be in the water...

Yes, you apparently did. Remember that supposedly "insider" thread entitled "Project 'Lucida' and 'Glove' In July"? It referred to a forthcoming Apple digital camcorder (one which ended up being made by someone else) and a marketing scheme where every copy of OS X can be installed on as many computers as you want, legally.

Later on there was a thread called "Project 'Presley' and '(something I don't remember)' in August." I don't remember what Presley referred to. A wireless mouse maybe? If so, then the names Elvis and Presley are merely coincidence.

Wow, I wish they would've had this right away. Then my dad would've been able to get Jaguar for free.

Just tell me this isn't going to be YET ANOTHER THING that the UK market misses out on. How hard would it be to have said "all teachers' rather than just the US? I'm just about to shell out for jaguar but if i saved the £60 (educ ) i would just spend it on my mac anyway -maybe even including .mac?

Come on Apple -no iPhoto commercial connection yet for sending off, Sherlock only designed for US market, $60 becomes £60 for Jaguar. Give us a break !

Yea I'm real happy,I paid $170 for the beta and two upgrades, sent in bug reports, defended the OS when it needed defending, told people how great it was,and now Apple is giving it away to people who make a lot more money than I do,this is lame.
