Old mac OS for Dialup. How?
Hope it's cool to post here. Googled in.
I was given an power mac 7600 /132 (with a monitor the size of a small car) by a mate today.
How do I go about configuring it for PPP connections?
It's my first experience of the OS. The only networking tool I can find is his old AOL browser.
I've seen articles about configPPP, filesharing etc. but none of them appear to be installed on my machine.
Is there anywhere I can download the tools I need? And can I download these onto my Linux/Windows machines then transfer them by disc? (the filesystem compatability I mean).
Cheers
PS: Is there such a thing as a mac Shell? How do I access it?

First item should be "About this Mac" or "About this Computer"
That will give the version of the Mac OS you are using.. post that and maybe we can help.

ouch
yes, that's pretty ancient.
You can update to 7.6.1 here:

You may be able to make FreePPP work
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/1745
and, you may be able to find some downloadable updates from apple here under Networking or Modem

good luck!

I see there's a lot of Windows compatablity features. Will the Mac recognise those binarys if I download them onto a DOS drive?

yes, I believe System 7 supported directly mounting DOS formats
