Forgot to ask in my last post: are there Anti Adware programs for Macs?
Thanks.
OM
Right now, there's no adware for MacOS X, and the only viruses are "proof of concept," nothing you're going to catch on your machine. The closest thing to adware are those damn popups, pop-unders and annoying Flash ads on websites.
the worl is full of horrible people wiritng horrible programs.
i cant believe no one has thought of writing for macs?
or maybe it's the mac users who write the nasty programs for pc users?
**joke**
Two things:
1) The way Mac OS X deals with applications is very straight-forward and upfront. All applications are in the applications folder and that contains virtually all of the applications stuff except for user settings, templates, clip art, licensing, and other resources. This makes it very hard to have adware that isn't built directly into the program (if it wasn't it would be obvious). And if it is built directly into the program, you were not responsible with the software you chose. At any rate, there are no known programs for Mac OS X that act as Ad Ware.
2) People just don't seem to be interested in developing viruses and other malicious software for macs. No proof of concept virus ever for Mac OS X has ever been self-propagating, and it seems very very hard to do with the Mac OS X operating system. The Mac OS X operating system has loads of things that could be exploited, but does however have less flaws than Windows, and as previously said, is hard to have a self-propagating device.

There is no adware on MacOS X. Just because you cannot conceive of a platform where this stuff does not exist does not change that basic fact.
