  • Google debuts Pixel 'Phone by Google,' with heavy emphasis on photography

How is this design not a complete ripoff of the iPhone???
Ridiculous. They even copied the rumored blue color for the iPhone7

Pathetic company. I watched some of the 'event' and it played like a parody of an Apple event. So sad and pathetic. They should stick to ads

Actually, while I've developed an anti-Google stance, I'm extremely impressed by what they've pulled together, and how they're delivering an elegant, well-executed experience. I have tremendous respect for what they are announcing today. It really puts a spotlight on how Apple is falling behind on several fronts. Apple does have the huge advantage of in-house development of high-performance hardware that is not accessible to competitors, but that same competition is delivering in ways that are truly meaningful to end users.

The advantages that Apple brings to the marketplace is greatly blurred and subdued after today.

Like? Can you be more specific? I watched the whole keynote and saw nothing of relevance.

All I saw was a panic attack after Apple starting to open Siri to devs, a lower quality homekit competitor so Android doesn't get left for dead, a phone with pretty standard/medium hardware specifications (SoC, etc.) at iPhone 7/Galaxy prices and an worse, second grade, design (that, down to the wallpaper, is a pathetic attempt of a "me too" copy of it) and that's it.

Oh, I also saw the heads of the few users that bought Google's previous OnHub router explode.

There's nothing there that you can't do better on iOS. Nothing. Heck, you better believe that Google will have more iOS users using their most uptodate Apps (as far as latest API levels) than Android users, too.

But hey, still talking about the headphone jack. Let's revise this next year.

Modest upgrades...The upgrades on a whole seem fairly significant and comparable to previous releases. Maybe Apple should release the same phone with a different shell every year to wow and confuse the broader tech media
I'm thinking they should move to keeping the same shell for 3 years in a row now that the product has matured.
I think they should do what they do with all of their product designs. Settle for one and refine it year after year.

It's a great idea that brings a lot of personality to the product (see Porsche 911). I always prefer a refined product to a radical designed one.
Of course, those that associate new shapes with new phones are also the same audience that associates more cores and higher numbers to better. There's no problem in losing those users.

  • Apple defends decision to ditch 3.5mm jack, says AirPods development began years ago

This alone may stop me from upgrading to the new iPhone. I have a $300 pair of wired headphones that I love, they have great sound, that currently work with every single audio device I own. Long term, I can see the advantage of moving away from the analog 3.5mm standard, but it should be a to a new, common standard that is just as ubiquitous across all devices. I don't see a chance in hell of Lightning being adopted as widely as the 3.5mm currently is.
There are already 900 million Lightning devices sold. And why wouldn't you use your 300$ headphones on the new iPhones with the included adapter?

It's as if you have no clue of what you are talking about, or are desperate to say something, no matter how stupid it actually is.

  • Apple announces water resistant iPhone 7: pressure sensing home button, dual cameras, jet black fin

I don't know what is happening. After (fairly) criticizing Apple's decisions on almost any post, it's if they listened and did everything I was hoping for.
The iPhone 7 is superior to any other device on almost any single metric, and the looks...

I also can't explain this, but I need the 7s Plus, jet black (I will destroy anything that scratches it), 128 GB. I need it, my precious!

  • Instagram to take advantage of iPhone 7 Plus cameras, wide color gamut display in app update

It still blows my mind that Apple went from the worst camera hardware (6s) on a flagship + best post processing hardware and software to probably the best camera hardware + best processing hardware and software.

    Really well done.

Take the number of times an ear bud fell out of my ear and was saved by the wire attached to it and multiply it by the cost of AirPods that will get lost or run over by a lawn mower when they fall out and you got a huge number. But I guess Apple is counting on that to increase sales and profits. I've had ear buds and headphones that have lasted years. I bet I'm not going to be able to hold on to something as small as AirPods for over a month. These things are asking to be lost. And I really don't want to have to buy a new Bluetooth equipped car just so I can listen to music and charge the darn device at the same time. Bottom line is if Apple is correct about all this wireless interaction, I'll be glad that I'll be dead and those that are left can enjoy their "Brave New World" where all their thoughts and words are being monitored by corporations and governments 24/7/365. You will never see Alexa in my house. Call me paranoid, if you so desire. I've been called worse.
    1. Who the hell told you that you had to buy wireless earbuds, in the first place?
    2. So you listen to music through your headphones while driving?
    3. What about the amount of times where earbuds fall because the WIRE was stuck on something?
    4. I won't call you paranoid, I will call you a troll. 1/10 troll attempt.

  • Apple Mac shipments slide 13% in Q3 amid PC market slowdown

All I know is my iMac 14,2 (late 2013) is still a screamer and runs macOS Sierra quite well. I have no complaints about its performance so a newer, faster iMac just for the sake of newer, faster is of little interest to me.
My 2011 MBAir is also a fantastic, well built and worth it machine that was worth every penny.

Any new riMac with an SSD is also best in class, and even the outdated rMBP 13", if fitted with a proper sized SSD, is also a great value, today.

It doesn't change the fact that 9 out of 10 Mac sales today are about extremely compromised machines to uninformed users. My TN screen was almost a dealbreaker for me in 2011. One year later we could have computers with better screens on 199$ Chromebooks. Even riMacs come standard without SSDs. The nMP is an outdated joke. What about the mini? Garbage, after the last update.

Some of you guys seem so emotionally attached that you can't see the obvious. Let me tell you what is the real problem:

    - Apple can easily make the best computers on the planet. They might still even do it, if you dig deep and dodge the pathetic money-grabbing attempts. When I bough my machine and earlier, if anyone wanted a Mac, we could say: Buy the one you want. They were all great machines with strong points that added a lot of value. In 2011, the Air came with a standard SSD, great ULV processor and best in class battery life. That was good enough to offset the crappy screen, in 2011, also because having that screen was crucial for great battery life.

These days, you can't recommend almost any single mac to anyone. Almost all of their offerings are garbage. With less money, you can buy a smaller computer than the air, with a screen that is the same size and better on every single metric, faster on any single task, 40 to 50% better battery life, better materials and superior build quality and so on. That just wasn't possible. The Air running a better OS is in no way an excuse for Apple to sell garbage products.
  • Beats to skip Studio Wireless headphone update in 2016, report says

As long as Apple sells macs with 128GB of storage, or macs with TN panels, or macs that aren't SSD only, or iPads from before 2015, this product fits right in.
I just can't understand how the company that makes the best products on the planet (6s, 7, SSD 5 and 4k iMac, etc.) can also make the worst, more overpriced, piece of sh*t that damages their brand so much (all the products mentioned on the first paragraph + iPhone 6 with gimped RAM that guarantees a short useful lifespan, all iPhones between the 4 and 5s with their pathetic small screens, old Mac Pros, etc.).

I just don't get it. They might profit from it, but it damages their brand and user experience so much.
  • Apple's iPhone 7 predicted to spur 8% growth, 2017 redesign seen causing 16% sales spike

Stock manipulation at its finest. This guy has no hard data, no basis for this sort of assumption. Apple already sells the 5 best smartphones on the planet today, and sales won't grow this year. Saturation. Price. Slower updates.
  • Adobe issues Flash updates to deal with 'critical' security holes

Thank God most Macs are so old, so outdated, that soon enough Adobe might drop flash support for Macs. At least we have that going..
