  • Does Olympus have (updated) capture software? I have a Canon, and they actually have been keeping up fairly well with the OS. When I want to grab AVI movies off my Canon, I use their software (I find that iPhoto does not touch the .avi files when …
  • Dual G5 Xserves *are* shipping, btw. Don't know if that fuels or retards the fire.

  • Why did I think eMacs had an LCD? Didn't they at one time? I think this is a very solid, smart update to eMacs, at just the right time. Hope to see some of these puppies down the hall in the Math lab soon. I feel iMac updates are coming down…

  • I believe that Apple has been readying a new iMac since December. That the eMac has been updated to be arguably better than the iMac except on screen size (20" iMac), especially on DVD-R speed is telling, in my mind. Especially if the iMac gets …

  • I just recieved a dual 2.0. No issues that I can see (no buzzing, excess humming, etc). It kind of revs up when running something intensive, but this noise is relative. HTH

  • Man, I am drooling over this. My kids have a 400MHz G3 iMac. Good machine, but son #1 is starting to play "real" games and the G3 won't cut it. This iMac cost us $850 or so three years ago. For $750 we can replace it with something MUCH better, …

  • If I remember correctly, pushing and holding the button until the lights go out also resets the on-battery power manager.
  • was playing halo just fine on my 1.25GHz, 1Gig RAM. My settings were generally 640x..., pixel shaders on, generally one quality setting less than "best" on all the settings. Dumped to a CRT monitor. Definitely playable and fun, maybe some stutter…

  • To me, "last of the G4s" implies more of definite end to the G4 PB, rather than saying "one more revision". In other words, it fits both "one more" or "there will be three more revisions, here they are". Specific that the end is in sight, but fitt…
  • There is usually (I want to say "always", but I'm too lazy to check) overlap between revs, meaning the new low end will be 1.8 or 2.0 duals. Even with a different die/chip, I'd assume that the 130nm are available, if not being produced still. Ot…
  • Where's Kickaha? Isn't it conventional wisdom that the 10.3.3 update enables the new rev of G5s? Wouldn't 10.3.3 therefore hold appropriate code for any new ATI and/or Nvidia cards? Or would these cards not require any s/w changes for support? …
  • Do you have a black 3-series with "INF LOOP" plates?
  • What I've had to do is explicitly put the DNS addresses in my OS X settings. Doesn't seem like I should have to, but if I don't, no dice. I currently have DSL -> Hub -> AirPort -> Powerbooks, but same thing worked if the Hub and/or AP w…
  • My rules: Applecare yes on any portable. We've had six portables over the years, and four of the six have had some issue after a year that Apple fixed immediately in two days without a hitch. The other two are a year or less old. Applecare yes…
