  • Apple's 21.5-inch Intel iMac is officially retired

About G-D time! When Apple peddles old cruft like this to educational institutions, it makes generic windoze boxes and e-waste, er…chrome books, come out looking good in comparison. It doesn’t matter if this old gear was price-competitive, it was still 5 year old tech with a tiny amount of storage and memory.

  • Senate lawmakers introduce bill targeting Apple App Store, Google Play

The politicians are listening (being bought by) to loudmouth, greedy developers. I wish they would listen to users instead. If they did, we’d want a closed, secure, easy to purchase App Store.
They are also acting on behalf of Microsoft, who has been in the background trying to manipulate the situation the whole time, yet somehow a $2+ trillion market cap tech company not subject to any of this round of “regulation” or even minimal scrutiny.

The correct decision. Or they could ask to see your Covid vaccination certificate in your Apple wallet with no need to wear a mask in the store.
Well, unfortunately there are reports that the CDC is saying that fully vaccinated people can transmit the virus.   Hopefully the combination of current and future vaccines pending proper testing, combined with herd immunity, will bring the pandemic to an end.
The cdc is relying on a research paper from India that failed peer review. Also, the paper looked at the Astra Zeneca vaccine, which is not used in the US.
In addition,  CDC is going to stop using PCR tests because they generate too many false positives.
I am calling bulls#lt on that “report”. That website (justthenews.com) is a conspiratorial, pro-Trump pseudo-journalistic outfit of less than dubious quality. It is found to be loaded with conspiracy theories & propaganda and has failed numerous fact checks. They have published misinformation during the corona virus outbreak and have been cited many times for doing so. Therefore their anti-CDC screed is invalid.

WTF??? How about paying teachers a decent salary. This is wrong on so many levels.
Teachers make good money. Why the hell should my school taxes buy equipment like this?
Hexclock, that is absolute and total bull$#it! I have been teaching for 28 years with 2 degrees AND a state teacher of the year award from Florida (3rd most populous state in the union) and my take home pay after all this time is only $47k. Moreover, the state where I teach now has no unions or workplace protections and has had a ban on collective bargaining for ALL state employees for almost 60 years. That is a major reason why I only bring home $47k after almost 3 decades in the classroom and could be fired at any time based upon my district's whim. I've had enough of that right-wing, anti-public education claptrap to last a (financially meagre) lifetime.  :/
