    Well, that's exactly right.  The Android user could go from Samsung to Moto to Pixel and feel little to no pain.  But the iPhone user who switches to Android will lose some apps. 
    Well that's exactly my point. You don't have a choice of iOS manufacturers. It's Apple or nothing so of course their "loyalty" is going to be higher because the financial consequence is greater if they left the Apple ecosystem than if a Samsung user moved to LG or some other android manufacturer. They have less of a need to be loyal because there is no financial consequence of moving between android phones since their paid apps come with you.

    How hypocritical, and completely lacking in self-awareness.

    I suppose you could call it loyalty but at the same time you don't really have a choice if all your apps are apple - you're locked into the iOS ecosystem. If you're on android, you have an actual choice of choosing which manufacturer you want to use without sacrificing all those apps you've already bought...
