Apple on Wednesday afternoon released Safari 4.0.2 (40MB for Leopard, 26MB for Tiger), a patch for its recently released major web browser update.

The download specifically reduces crashes related to Nitro, the custom JavaScript engine key to Safari's improved speed. It also rolls in unnamed compatibility and security fixes.

Installing 4.0.2 requires either Mac OS X 10.4.11 or 10.5.7 and Security Update 2009-002 if it isn't already installed.

Same here_I had actually started to use Safari more than Camino for the first time until these crashes started happening especially when playing yahoo chess. The good news so far is that they seem to be gone.
