In Winter, Cognac is my, uh, "cup of tea" so to speak. I think I like it more for the smell than the taste, but a really good Cognac properly warmed can, as pscates said, make ya "toasty" inside. Roger-ramjet is right, there's just something about sniffing a snifter under a quilt in front of the fire on a cold winter's night...
I love a good champagne (and yes, I am one of those snooty people who insists that real champagne is from France) almost any time. I'm not a big champagne drinker though; I don't have several fills of the flute in a sit.
I also like a gin and tonic on occasion. Ingredients: gin, tonic, lime. That last one is the "secret" ingredient I guess.
I've tried to like beer more, but I really don't unless I'm really really parched. Of course at that point, worm piss would serve me fine, and that's pretty much what I get. I had what I recall as being amazingly decent beers in Prague some time ago, but again I was on my feet running all over the damn town for 8 hours at a time.
I hate pretty much all that stuff under tiny parasols. I've never been a big fan of sweet stuff, nor do I like the idea of "hiding" the alcohol under all that stuff. If I order alcohol, I expect it to show up.

but, better than the foam that they were calling beer... it's a shame that party was busted, it was just getting nice. I think the neighbors called in to the cops and said that we were doing lines of coke out back..

My particular drink is whisky; the perticular derivative depending on the socio-economic circumstances at the time. For a park bench on a bitter Autumn evening 'Auld Pish' disguised by a broon paper bag is adequate, however when it comes tae standing stark naked afore the roaring log fire in the banqueting ha' o' the family castle, buttocks tae the blaze, there is nothing tae enhance experience like Talisker, or any o' the Islay malts. I am also awfy fond o' Glenfiddich although it has been unkindly compared tae the ginger (soda?) o' whiskies. And is their anything mare pleasing than the sight o' those wee whitewashed highland distilleries on a crisp afternoon? Edradour especially springs tae mind.
For those who are interested there is an excellent web site listing many o' the best Scottish brands. But just in caes it's no legally or morally proper tae give the exact link I shall simply say masterofmalt and that it's a UK site.
I really get excited over a Smirnoff Ice. It's a pre-mixed Smirnoff Vodka Lemonade in a bottle. I toss a couple in the freezer for 40 minutes so they're just on the verge of freezing. Delicious.
I'm also partial to Corona. I do the same freezer thing, have the timing down to a science (with my fridge anyway). I take it out just a hair below freezing, pop the cap off, then immediately drop a good sized lime wedge in. The beer is so cold that the lime drops to the bottom immediately, then ice crystals start to form on it. It slowly expands upward so the whole beer is engulfed in about 30 seconds - it's really cool to see. I take a few swings before it's all iced up, and after about 3-4 minutes it's fully drinkable. Cold as hell, and freakin' delicious.
Whatever I drink, it's gotta be COLD. I don't think I ever drink anything (if possible) that hasn't spent some time in the freezer.

last nite it was WAY TOO MUCH whiskey and lemonade. and if you doubt me look at the posts I made here in the early hours of the morning, now they are coming back to haunt me ... that and a hang over.
I personally love almost any import. My personal favorites are, Guiness, Carlsberg Lager (although I've never been able to find it here in the US), Carona, Killian's Irish Red, Bass, and Heineken. I also like mixed drinks on occasion but not really very often... mostly just margaritas and Daquiris.
Hmm, wine. My experience with both beer and wine is rather limited (being restricted to what's available to me as a college student as I am). Thus far, from the wines I've had, Berringer White Zinfandel is by far the best. As far as beer goes what generally goes around at party's is piss-poor stuff like warm Busch Lite. I am rather partial to Liney's however, and a little MGD beats the pants off anything else I've had (hell, even MGDL is better than most of what I've had).
I'm definitely looking forward to the three months I'll be spending in Moscow next year because, as I said before, my favorite drink is: vodka, straight. Plus, I've heard good things about eastern european brews and I've got a hankering for some kvass. (Weird, why isn't kvass in the spell-checker's dictionary? Well, it is now. <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" /> )
Beer: These days if I find myself drinking a brew , it'll usually be on a Friday night after work - and even then it's a light usually a Cascade Premium Light (tassie beer from downunder... not quite sure if that's the correct name actually)
Jeez - I remember the days when I used to think drinking light beer was a waste of time and money... what happened?

And I love a good single malt scotch. The best I've had to date is Lagavulin. Mmmm....
I love Myer's Dark Rum and Mount Gay Spiced Rum and Coke/Pepsi... Preferrably a 60/40 split for rum and coke, respectively.
I also love a good cabernet with my sghetti. Mondavi and Gallo Reserve and Sebastiani vineyards are all fine.

I'm a microbrew kinda guy. Shaftbury (Vancouver, Canada) make the best nectar I've tasted.
When in Calgary, I like Wild Rose Brown, or Big Rock's Traditional Ale.
