What Mac do you think Steve J has sitting on his office desk right now?

He must be able to get access to the stuff that is coming to you and me in six or more months?

Just wondered what flights of fancy on the board a question like this would lead us to!

For my money I would have to bet on a Quick Silver with dual (or Quad?) G5's and a huge screen.

So come on do your worst.

I doubt it. I bet it's something very ordinary. He's not that into the technology stuff. He just likes "pretty cool" computers.

I can think of another good reason - considering how many visitors he must have to his offices at Apple, Pixar, and to his home, having prototype hardware around wouldn't be too clever.

A tiny Sony Viao running NeXTStep.

And the keys to his LearJet.

A Classic or Color Classic at best, next to a NeXT cube and a Dual Athlon 1800+.

    I'd say a new iMac (with a GHz + G4 prototype)

Yeah, but he got the AirPort hardware team to build in RDF antennae.

I heard that he used a NeXT machine for his e-mail and such, even for a long time after re-joining Apple. So does he actually use a Mac OS now that it's OS X?

He just might... he *did* seem more at home on the Mac this keynote than before.

In keynotes past I kept getting the idea that he really didn't know his way around the machine.

    This last time he either:

    a) Finally got a Mac and uses it

    b) Practiced more.

Yeah but he could have like a G5 in a Quicksilver case to throw off people.

If he uses a laptop, it's probably a PB G4.

If he uses a desktop, it's probably a Superdrive iMac (to wow the guests).

    I don't see him wanting or needing a dual 1.6Ghz G5.
