One would hope that he uses OS X, and not Nextstep. If he's going to be muddling around with OS X's development then he sure as hell better use it.
But I doubt his computer is a prototype, he would want something without bugs that works. After all, he must DO something on his computer that's important. I'm guessing a Powerbook, since he would need something portable. If it's a desktop, then probably something with an LCD display..a cube, maybe, or a Powermac. G4 iMacs are too new, I doubt he has one yet, but maybe.
I was bored one day and I emailed him with this very same question. To my surprised he wrote back. He said that he uses a Powerbook but by when I looked at the message headers, the email had been sent with a NeXT email client.

Steve lied to me. I love it.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Maybe that was his mail server? Maybe OS X server running an old next mail server?

The X-Mailer field tells you the name of the client he was using and not what the server is running. Maybe he was running OS X and a NeXT client adapted to it just for him, but I doubt it.
It wouldn't surprise me if he uses different systems... a NeXT box and a Powerbook.
CosmoNut, guests? Do you think that anyone but Ive and Shiller ever see his real office? Judging from the sort of paranoia that surrounds Steve I bet VERY few people see where he really works. After all, might be "The NeXT big thing" in that office at any time. An egg, a lamp, a toaster, lol.
I know I sound a little Anti-Apple here, jsut the way it came out. Trust me, I bleed six colors, errr, I used to, no I guess I just bleed white?

Why do I find this post only semi-believable?</strong><hr></blockquote>
I can't blame you, I probably wouldn't believe a post like that either. But the weird thing is that it's true. I have no reason or motivation to make something so strange up.

The question is, what does Jon Rubenstein have on his desk?
