Linkin Park
Linkin Park could very well be the rock band of 2001. Live 105, the Bay Area's modern rock station, did their annual New Year's top 105 countdown and Linkin Park had 3 songs in the top 10 (#s 2, 7, 10)... Amazing!
I like LinkinPark because they are creative, dynamic, and original. Unlike many groups nowadays, they actually write and "play" their own music rather than having it manufactured for them.
So who else likes the band?

lol.
wait, they actually write their own music!? wow
However, I understand *why* you like them, and I'm sure your age has deprived you of some good hard rock. They are what is available to you, and I'm afraid you just don't have much to choose from anymore.
A few songs I encourage you to pick up, back when hard rock wasn't as much of a commodity:
- Anything off of Deftone's "Adrenaline" (1995)
- Anything from Korn's first album (1994), nothing after, they went straight downhill. (especially "Divine" or "Ball Tongue")
This new wave of synth-metal 16 year olds who are more into their costumes than their music might be your thing, though, but all power to you anyway.
Sure LinkinPark is new... I'm really excited about what their Sophomore album will bring, as it will make or break them IMHO.
What is great about 'Park is the diversity. How many bands can successfully mix so many genres? They are not just one thing. And while they can't be everything to everyone, I think their mix of lyrics (both vocals and rap) and music (hard and yet soothing at times -- keep in mind that I swoon the second I hear a piano in any rock song) are their chief assets.
And what's the age comment about? While I'm not a geezer I'm not some young'n either... *sheesh*
was anyone at the bdo with limp bizkit, i was in the auckland one and they well yes

U2 can mix and match genres like there's no tomorrow.
Linkin Park is like a shit sandwich.
Nuff said.

"successfully"
Watch out for these guys...
U2 hasn't had an above-average song in a decade.

I do.

Since when were they called Limp Bizkit? Never. They don't even sound anything like Limp Bizkit so why the reference?
For the record, they used to be called Hybrid Theory before changing their name to Linkin Park. Go to mp3.com and do a search for 'hybrid theory.'

Yes. Mike and Chester write the lyrics/music.

I'll second that. Both are great CDs.

the reason for the comparison is
its the same type of music...shity no talent guys trying to rap.. oh and i forget screaming. the only time that metal and hip hop sounded good was anthrax and bad brains.
i could care less what there old name used to be.
they are a horrible band.
Am I going to get into this pointless argument? No.
Whether or not a form of art is "good" or "bad" is strictly based on opinion. Music is no exception. I don't know why people make posts that serve no purpose other than to insult another's taste. It is possible to discuss things without insulting the other party involved in the discussion.

I'm just trying to make a clarification. If they're horrible, well then that's just your opinion.

In the End are good songs.

That's the one I hate the most. My wife and I laugh at that song when it's on the radio. What trite crap.
First off, I don't hate Linkin Park, I think they have some good pop songs, but beleive me there's not that much difference in the way a Linkin Park record is put together and the way an NSYNC record is. More like different target markets.
