I remember I liked Linkin Park over a year ago when the album first came out, and wasn't on EVERY single radio station. Now it's just over-played, poppy shit.
People try to look deep into their lyrics to find something, but Linkin Park just manufactures them to "sound" deep... it's just crap.
They'll be gone in 2 years, I guarentee it.
[edit]
I just turned on the radio and I heard none other than In The End on the local Pop/Rap station... and guess who was "DJ"? Yep, Mr. Carson Daily... : pukes : crappy stuff I tell ya...

Umm so they weren't poppy a year ago, but now they are? last time i checked their cd was the same a year ago as it is now

I'm not the biggest ska fan, but I love The Clash and The Ramones. I was lucky enough to have seen The Ramones at least a dozen times, simply kick ass rock n roll.
Anyone excited for the Reverend Horton Heat's tour, or how bout The Breeders tour?

and what genres would those be?
and I hate to tell you but a ton more bands can "succcessfully mix genres" than Linkin Park.
I just bought a Los Lobos double cd. its amazing. they go from traditional mexican music to cream to marvin gaye to blues to country, folk and then mexican influenced rock.

it's sad when people start justifing whether a band is good or not ased on the fact whether they write their music or not.

Right, the CD's the same. The difference now, at least in my opinion, is that all the radio stations play Linkin Park so much now it gets annoying and I get sick of hearing the song. The only time I listen to Z100 here in NY is when I'm in the shower and sometimes when I'm brushing my teeth and most of the time In The End is on. The song got played out by them. They've done the same thing with Staind and Nickleback. They do it to a lot of groups/artists. Most other stations do that too and it's horrible.

I did not say, "Linkin Park is a good band because Mike and Chester write the music." I was merely responding to someone who said they didn't.
Most young popular music today does suck...it really needs a kick in the balls...Like POD though. <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />
I'm wondering if I should start a thread about creed cuz the singer brushes his own hair...you know, cuz he can mix a weave and a tease so effortlessly...

Linkin Park sounds like Depeche Mode mixed with something else I cannot think of right now... hmmmf.
Anyway, as for Punk, there is plenty besides the Ramones and the Clash. Rancid is a good re-Punk band.
Ska is a hard one. There's so much and a lot of it sucks. I like Maddness, however a lot of people think that they're "too commercial" and "sold-out" with Our House. Whatever. If the music makes you warm and fuzzy, let no one take that away from you. A band I saw YEARS AGO that I liked was Mephaskapholies. I saw them years before their album came out. Great stuff.

That's not what I said. I said I liked them a year ago, and now I don't... but everyone, and I mean most people, do like them now. Understand that?

However that is saying just about as much as saying that in comparison to dos Windows has a good interface.
THey are moderate at best, and even low at that level.
This is a photo I found on the Web of CBGB's after Joey Ramones death...link below is a larger 1024 x 768 image to download.
