An Apple fan-related site that has the initials of MR?
I'm asking because lately the *other* place seems void of intelligent conversation, and more about flamewars about who's opinion is more right than the other, etc.
There's also a huge amount of Windows-only users on the site now trolling Ad nauseam about how Windows machines are cheaper, more variety, etc.
I'm not saying Apple doesn't deserve criticism, nor that Windows is horrible (I use both myself), but the mindless bashing does indeed get old after awhile.
So with that, I am on to find a discussion forum a bit more productive and enjoyable to be a part of.

MacRumors is kiddie ville mostly. AI seems to have a more mature following.
We get trolls here, and moderation is minimal because we have a ignore feature in the UserCP
People have different opinions what considers trolling, some people post and are unaware of others potential reaction.
I do harp about the glossy issue, but in a constructive way that addresses potential solutions to a problem many people have.
I in fact got a hold of Steve and informed him of the issue and he got out the 15" matte screen MacBook Pro a few weeks later, soon as he got back to Apple from his recovery, for how long depends how long he gets matte screens from the LCD suppliers I'm assuming.
So something can come out of intelligent discussion, although others might consider it trolling because they don't have a physical issue with the glossy screens.
But if you allow anything posted to affect you, you got a problem, because all and all it really doesn't matter what people say online.
It's the illusion your going to lose some sort of online status or something if you don't win this or that online argument or discussion, or allow a troll to get under your skin.
The fact is nobody cares. I quit caring what others thought about me long ago, it's all about the money. If you got it then FTW!!!!

With all due respect, that's an easy attitude to take when you haven't been around for very long.
At one time this place was a real community. There were quite a few long time members, and new people tended to be somewhat deferential until they had been around for a while. Someone showing up with a first post belittling fan boys would be banned instantly, and rightly so, IMO.
It really doesn't have much to do with winning arguments, being right, or what anyone thinks of anyone else. It has to do with the ambient tone of an online community. It's the rare thread, now, that doesn't have a fare amount of sneering about delusional Mac users, and the absolute go-to response of first choice, if someone is cool with something Apple has done that you think is wrong, is to start in on "blinkered fan boys" and "Apple-can-do-no-wrong zealots." At some point, that's become an acceptable bit of stock rhetoric.
Yes, I use the ignore function, but when a certain critical mass of a certain kind of poster is reached, the entire tone shifts to a kind of unpleasant background static, which I find tiresome.
Try going onto any tech site and being enthusiastic about anything Apple makes or has done and see how long before you get your ass handed to you. A site like this ought to be a refuge from that, and in the past it most definitely has.
As I say, I don't need to prove how level headed and open minded I am by suffering assholes gladly.

Well, I do agree somewhat with you. Well, things change, AI changes too. Also one of the reasons I'm not such a heavy poster nowadays... Like you say, background static and off-topic rantings and accusations.

True enough, and I don't have any illusion that bitching about it is going to change it back. Every online community evolves, changes, falls apart, turns into something else.
Still, as long as I'm posting here I'll probably grumble about the the cries of "fan boy" thing, just because I think it's lazy and sort of mindless and never contributes anything of use.
