Well, I hope you're wrong. In the absence of better judgement, I have already bought an Apple Studio display and sold my iMac because I am anticipating an entry level G4 with iDVD/SuperDrive being released any day now.
I guess that I could go ahead and buy something now, but I'd be pissed if I did that and something else was released the next day.
Don't forget Apple is on the west coast. If there's going to be anything new today (which I'm not convinced there will be), it will be afternoon on the east coast.
It would probably be a press release if all we're getting is 1.0GHz...nothing to brag about...in fact, making a big deal about it would probably be more likely to make a laughing stock out of Apple than staying quiet. So...I'm thinking about 8 or 9 AM PST - which means there's still an hour or two left before any announcement would be made.
I don't think we're going to see any bump anymore, it's too late already. Normally news are out by now, no matter where the company is located.

What? It's only 7:30 in Cupertino right now. They're not even in to work yet over there. I don't know if it's coming today, but just because it's 10:30 on the east coast doesn't mean they're not.
I guess they could be waiting for Wall Street to close for the day, but that would only help the stock today if the response to the new PM wasn't good. Or maybe the rumors are just plain wrong and we won't see new PM any time soon.
Maccentral had a note posted at 8:45 am for the silently upgraded powerbooks. It seems they (Maccentral) run East Coast time. So that would have been 5:45 PST.

or are we all insomniacs with no lives?

Well, I personally am a lifeless insomniac who's serious about buying a new PowerMac.
Alex
How did they do the TiBook last year?

What makes you people think they would be silently released on the web site with no announcement at all?

1.) that's what they did with the powerbooks with a press release
2.) the specs are a bit underwhelming if rumor is correct

Let's see what happen until end of the day.
Specially afternoon.
