The first place I saw these movie bundles was in the pirate markets of Asia, where they use video compression to get e.g. 5 movies on one DVD. Then last year I start noticing the same idea was appearing in Western stores (minus the compression). Now that the bundles are going digital, I wonder if the legit guys will finally be able to undercut the pirates (or at least get close enough that you might as well buy the real thing).
Typical... Apple lets the studios ignore the rest of the world.
Why doesn't Australia have access to the bundled movies?
Why no free christmas iTunes extras sampler?
There's only so much Apple can pressure the studios on this. The problem is distribution rights are still "hard coded" by region. I think it's in part for accounting, but rights are sold off by country or region, often before a movie is made.
Does anyone know what the airline app is in this ad? Apple has a list of the apps that it features in its commercials, but I couldn't find one that matched this flight ticketing app in the ad.
1080 is HD. When iTunes and Apple TV are 1080p, I am totally in.
when they can compress 1080 to a decent file size they will likely be in as well. right now that is the major holdup. well one of them. the studios could be holding things up as well. after all, they might not want to cut into blu-ray sales.

then don't pay. go back to Windows and their vast options and lower prices. I'm sure a smart guy like you will no problem doing whatever you want/need to do on a computer with Windows 7. And you can probably do it without any nasty viruses and crashes and all the rest of the FUD Apple spews in their ads.

ding ding. Jeff gets the prize. 100% correct. I work in the industry and I can tell you straight up that the power is NOT in Apple's hands. if a show is on itunes, when and to what counties is all about the networks and the studios. same for movies. if you can buy it and/or rent it, all on the Net/Studios. same with music and record labels. and yes often rights are sold by region.
Until the industry really sees that digital is 'working' they won't open things up. And until they can be convinced that removing DRM isn't going to open the floodgates of piracy, they won't do it. Apple can only play along so what they can get isn't pulled.

I don't know about Australia, but I just checked and Canada now has a Holiday Sampler! It's only 7 songs Vs. USA's 20, but it's something. So you might want to take another look.
