what is the signification of your user name ?
Some users names have not signification, like Eugene who is his first name, but others names can have an explanation. It would be kind if some-people can explain the signification of their names. Of course if it is top-secret they don't have to reply

"The Grove Rats" was an old-school 50s gang where my dad grew up (see above), and it is now a colloquial term for those living in P.G., Tx. Co-workers gave me the nickname.
Lame, huh?

<strong>Simply my name, first initial and last name: Paul Scates = pscates

Not nearly as lame as when someone mistakes the first "s" for your middle initial and calls you 'cates all the ime (as if "Cates" were your last name)! Don't I feel like the idiot. Sorry dude.
As for my moniker, it's a knickname an old college buddy gave me. I have one of those funky, hard-to-pronounce last names (like Corvette has probably), so he just started calling me "Moogs" and pretty soon everyone followed suit. The ? symbol was added when AI came back online, just in case some clown had intentionally taken my name and intended to spam the board...although in retrospect I should've just checked / tried the original spelling first. But that would be too logical.
And yes, I do believe in the concept that just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get me.

Wow! - I might well be interested in plastic surgery when I qualify (I'm just starting Med School at Imperial College London. Any tips? Also, do you like the new French system of National Healthcare - I think that the UK should switch to a similar system, but the currenc government is having none of it.
Thanks,
David

I never knew I'd make more than the one post, back in Dec. 98, or I would've come up with something more original. Oh well.

It's nice to discover a colleague here on AI. What sort of tips do you want ?
There is no new French system of National healthcare, just minor changes. French doctor (especially the general practicioner) are not very happy in the private sector : their fees are fixed by the state, and the prizes where blocked for years. I am in a little different case because i have the right to fix my own fees.
The problem of Medecine is that good Medecine cost many, many money. Politicians, does not want to tell the truth to people, if they want the best medecine avalaibe it cost them more money. Until these days medecine have worked fine in France. The french specificity is the coexistence of two system in parallelar , the public and the private system.
Personaly i belong to the private system, that's why i can bought macs, because i a m my own boss, if i was in public hospital i will have a PC( if they give me one). This story of mac is just a detail, but i have many more liberty in private hospital than in public one. In counterpart, i have to work more in order to earn money. I will not have this pression if i worked for public hospital.
I like to play with rare earth magnets... (i.e. ferro-magnetic fields)
