    I agree, apart from one bit, many have LOST their lives in the space race. I think that it is way to early in space flight to put a dumb boyband member out there. He'll probably press the wrong button and undo the airlock.</strong><hr></blockquote>

    i agree completely.

    Let's take space travel off the pedestal. It's not the saccade cow you all make it out to be. Or it shouldn't be. If we want it to become common then we have to treat it that way.

    no, its just the opposite. most people dont think its a big deal, or thats even that difficult. but it is. do u know how dangerous space travel is? do u know what kind of risks are involved?? do u know how difficult it is to make an efficient mode of space transportation??? it costs billions every flight. and we're really nowhere near an efficient means necissary to make space travel accessable to normal citizens. do not make it seem like its a normal flight accross the country or whatever. cause thats not how it is. we are very far away from making it accessable to the rest of us--mainly because we just dont have that technology yet.

    when we have the technology to efficiently send multiple people to space, then sure, make a big deal out of it. but fer now, each person sent in space has a critical role to play in progress. and n'sync cannot offer any contribution that could aid progress in any way.

    why do you think an nSync member spending 25 million dollars is going to help bring space travel to the masses? another guy has already done this and what was the result? just another millionaire wanting to do the same thing.

    space travel is not refined, safe, and cheap enough for mass market travel. nor will it be for several maybe many years.

    again, this will do nothing but get a millionaire pop singer into space

    I agree with you Scott, in the next decade the travel in space will become more common. For the moment you have to pay 25 millions dollars, in 50 years , prize will be drop down in a incredible manner : it should cost you the prize of a good car.

    Space will become common in the future, it's just a matter of time and one more step in human destiny.

    Space travel for us common folks won't be a reality for 50 years or more and then it'll be just us getting shuttled around. It's not like we'll all be having little space ships jetting around to the moon or mars on a whim. It'll be more like modern air travell in jumbo jets. If we do get colonies on Mars in the far future (talking year 2100+) then they would probably have huge cargo/passenger ships making maybe only 4 trips a year back and forth.

    who knows, isn't some US guy who walked on the moon. In the early 50 this was purely unbelievable: and USA did it. space travel already exist, i hope i see this in my lifetime, even if i will be too old for that trip. May be my daughters.

    I have known the beginning of the personal computers aera, perhaps my daughters will know the space aera;

    as much as i hope this is true, im too much of a realist to let it influence my opinions. i think its possible, but not probable. there are just too many obstacles in the way. ill be first to sign up if and when the opportunity arises. hell, im very tempted to quit my major and make a run at NASA. i would love to be on the first colony on mars, but on the timeline NASAs set, id be too old by then and have nothing to offer. but yes, maybe our children will see the fruits of all our labor.

    Leak to the press that China said "We will put a man on Mars in 5 years!". Then we'll get our rear in gear.
