Apple doesn't govern your life. Your government does. I'd worry about *that* organization way before I'd worry about a tech company out to sell some products.

Apple has always been this secretive. If consumers and developers were unhappy, they'd go somewhere else. But that's not happening.

Standards, the only standard they have is to hire the cheapest contractor and tell you how to live your life.

How f--n hard can that be to understand?

And it's a proven success in terms of marketing aproach. You all may be tech nerds but cant you open the door to reality sometimes?

I believe you are 100% correct. These people were given pre-production units for testing. Apple doesn't want people to be reviewing these units and blogging about it on the net. They give production build devices to the selected reviewers just before the device releases. This allows them to have enough time to use the device and publish a story on or about release day.

This really isn't about keeping something secret. It is about giving the product a fair shot in the marketplace. It comes to market without people complaining about what are actually substandard prototypes, etc.

The reality is Apple has had steady growth and has not suffered the beating many of these companies have over the years.

In many cases Apple looks even stronger because so many have taken major hits and look very weak. However as far as the future no one had a clue what the future holds even more so in the tech sector. So for someone to try and base it on history is pointless.

IBM is and was a blue chip company and Apple was still a fledging company building for a fledging market. It's not that hard to see how IBM was considered big Brother in the ad and how that wouldn't work today in relation to Apple's position in the market. It's not that hard.

Tell me about it. Look at the folks up in arms because AI chose to use the word ban in the Apple to ban film-based screen protectors from company stores.

And apparently now developers are being left handicapped.

I thought Mossberg and Pogue had one for the week or two preceeding. Or do you mean no devs?

    That would be the best.

That's interesting. What software have you used that ruined your Mac?

But I had to reply. He mixed three different metaphors at once and unknowingly used a gay reference when he himself is a complete homophobe.

My apologies if I'm wrong, of course, but the giddy, over the top "It's good that Apple is taking our first born, I'll have more children to staff their salt mines out of gratitude to their largess!" tone just strikes me as a kind of broad parody of the "fan boy", as enacted by someone who thinks we're all idiots.

What gets me is: Why do these useless disruptors that constantly inject negative energy continue to be on AI? Don't the owners/mods have any self-interest in keeping these guys out?

The threads were generally so informative and interesting these past few weeks, with guys like these Banned. Now I am back to..... sigh.....

One of his first posts, in a thread about Tim Cook getting a 5 millions dollar bonus, was

    Quote:

Tim is agood man. I'm glad that in some smll way, my purcases from apple are going to help him. I'm glad that the money is in his pocket not mine

Which I think speaks for itself in terms of being a creditable bit of Apple boosterism.

I guess the "joke" is that someone claiming that Apple is always right and good and its every decision justified and all its rivals evil will fit right in and get people to agree, and then we'll be exposed as sheep because we didn't immediately call him out; I was just sort of ignoring it as background noise till JeffDM paused to question some typically outlandish assertion. Probably also some point about not getting banned for saying a lot of stupid nonsense as long as you come on like a transfixed Apple zealot.

Why anyone thinks that this is a productive use of their time is another matter, best left to professionals.
